Little Family Treasure of the Apocalyptic Boss - Ch 60
Chapter 60: The Giant Whale
After bidding farewell to An Jue and the city lord, Ye Ze took a leisurely stroll with the little snake sub-beast in front of their designated residence.
He was well aware that his schedule had been tight in recent days, whether in Dragon Palace City or on the beach, leaving him with no time to play with the little snake sub-beast. So, having some rare free time now, Ye Ze didn’t mind spending a little extra time to make the little snake sub-beast happy.
While the small robotic surveyors were placed aside, assessing the local conditions, Ye Ze led the little snake sub-beast to the beach.
In this primitive world, there was no concept of environmental pollution yet. The sea was crystal clear and azure, rolling up snow-white waves; the golden sand was soft and fine, occasionally hiding surprises washed up from the seabed.
The little snake sub-beast joyfully picked up pretty seashells and small conches on the beach, occasionally uncovering a few pieces of deep-sea amber or peculiar-shaped seaweed that had dried up.
Walking all the way to the damp sand where the waves lapped, their footsteps paused. Unable to resist, the little snake sub-beast raised the tip of their tail and curiously poked at the surging waves.
Protected by the tail’s garment, they not only didn’t feel cold but also experienced a pleasant sensation as if being gently brushed!
Excitedly, the little snake sub-beast felt safe and sound. With a proud chest and a swaying tail, they rushed into the shallow waters of the beach.
Wow! So much fun!
“Nuo Nuo, be careful. If you go too deep, you’ll be captured by scary sea monsters!”
Ye Ze, who was grilling barbecue on the beach, showed a helpless yet indulgent smile. It was meant as a loud reminder, but it was actually intentional scaremongering. He was so immersed in teasing the little snake sub-beast that he couldn’t help himself.
“!” The figure of the little snake sub-beast frolicking in the waves suddenly paused. Their tail arched up, and they moved from the partially submerged tail towards the dry sand.
Uh-oh. Nuo Nuo didn’t want to be captured; Nuo Nuo wanted to stay with Ye Zi! “Yikes! There really are monsters coming to capture Nuo Nuo!”
The end of their tail was caught by an unknown cylindrical object. The little snake sub-beast shuddered in fear, wriggling their body frantically. The swaying tail easily pulled the unknown creature along.
It seemed… a bit heavy, but didn’t seem to be big?
The little snake sub-beast’s body stiffened. With golden dots in their eyes, they looked down at their tail, “…”
Amidst Ye Ze’s burst of laughter, the little snake sub-beast sullenly pulled out a tool from the spatial ring and grabbed a red octopus.
Scaring Nuo Nuo and making Nuo Nuo be mocked by Ye Zi—decision made! Today’s lunch will be you! [Snake sneers]
“Splash, splash, splash. Plop——!”
Accompanied by the sound of water misting and the sound of rushing water breaking open, a blur of motion sped up behind them.
Blinking his eyes in confusion, the little snake sub-beast turned his head. They happened to see a dark shadow bursting out of the water, revealing a huge body like a small mountain.
With two pairs of large fins on their sides flapping up and down, they created a roaring sound of wind. After landing on the beach, they stirred up a muffled sound mixed with water.
With a mouth big enough to swallow hundreds of little snake sub-beasts, it opened and closed in front of him, revealing rows of fine and sharp teeth, swaying proudly before the little snake sub-beast’s eyes.
It emitted cheerful long calls that sounded like they had just captured prey.
The little snake sub-beast stood frozen in place, their color fading from head to tail. Suddenly, with a start, they threw the octopus in their hand into the mouth of the giant monster, turned around, closed their eyes, and with their tail vigorously swaying, they ran towards Ye Ze’s direction.
Waaah! Nuo Nuo is going to be eaten!
A Crimson thorn vine reached out and grabbed the flying red octopus in mid-air—this was a dish specially chosen by the little snake sub-beast and couldn’t be missing.
Ye Ze looked up at the creature that resembled a head whale, but was much larger in size, with a string of very familiar question marks above its head.
At the same time, he appeared in the path of the little snake sub-beast’s mad dash, picked up the frightened little snake sub-beast and hugged him, patting his head with a smile, “Don’t be afraid. Look, it’s actually very friendly. It might even be a new friend.”
Not true! It was about to eat Nuo Nuo! [Snake cries bitterly]
The little snake sub-beast clung tightly to Ye Ze’s waist, burying himself in his chest, shaking his head vigorously with tearful eyes, strongly condemning Ye Zi for teasing him at this time.
“Buzz—buzz~!”
The huge monster’s massive body tilted on the beach, like an innocent child, tilting their head in confusion. Seeing the little snake sub-beast resisting on their back, they tried to turn their rarely-used brain to figure out why.
They felt it must be because the communicator saw that they hadn’t brought a gift, so they were unhappy!
“Splash!”
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
Another loud splash.
Immediately followed by something dropping one after another behind them.
The little snake sub-beast shivered reflexively and squeezed themselves into Ye Ze’s arms again.
Ye Ze’s chest shook as he tried to suppress the laughter that was about to burst out. He patted the little snake sub-beast’s head, “I’m here, everything’s fine. Look behind you, there’s a surprise.”
Encouraged by Ye Ze, the little snake sub-beast reluctantly turned around. He hesitantly turned his head, showing half of his face and cautiously opening his eyes a little: Q…?
The little snake sub-beast suddenly widened his eyes, looking at the treasures scattered all over the ground. Even his soft and smooth dumb hair seemed to jump up in excitement.
Could it be that this was not actually a sea monster, but the wish-granting genie from Aladdin’s lamp?
Ye Ze couldn’t resist laughing at the silly and cute reaction of the little snake sub-beast.
The silly child soon forgot the “unpleasantness” of their first encounter in the coaxing of Ye Ze and the giant whale. Riding on the miniature whale-shaped boat, he began to ride the waves in the shallow sea.
Giggles and the long calls of the giant whale echoed from time to time.
Ye Ze rolled the octopus skewers on the grill, his smile never fading.
But glancing up at the sun overhead, now was not the time for playfulness.
“Nuo Nuo, come eat.”
“Okay!”
The little snake sub-beast sat cross-legged on the head of the giant whale, waving happily to Ye Ze in response. Then, he patted the big whale’s head, “Fishy, let’s go!”
“Yo!”
After shrinking, the voice of the giant whale became more tender and delicate. It even had a faintly cute sound.
The whale smoothly delivered the little snake sub-beast to the shore. Using its fins as a bridge, they arrived at the beach without any hindrance.
The little snake sub-beast slid down the slide and landed safely. Looking at the giant whale and then at the barbecue stall not far away, they frowned in distress.
The fishy was too big and couldn’t leave the water.
How could he invite the fishy?
The giant whale seemed to hear the little snake sub-beast’s thoughts. After making sure the little snake sub-beast was in a safe environment, it suddenly gathered clear water around its body, forming a large water ball surrounding its entire body.
The water ball gradually shrank, becoming a crystal ball the size of a fist, with a miniature version of the whale swimming inside, floating towards the little snake sub-beast.
The little snake sub-beast slightly opened their mouth again, revealing a look of unfamiliar surprise. After circling the water ball, he reached out and gently held it when it stopped in front of them.
It felt cool but not cold to the touch.
So magical!
The little snake sub-beast carefully held the fishy water ball and ran to Ye Ze, “Ye Zi, look! This is Fishy. It shrank and can come home with us now!”
The little whale inside the water ball happily waved its tail fins, swaying its two front fins.
“I know, I know.” Everything was happening right in front of him, and he could see it all.
But compared to knowing the facts, what Ye Ze actually enjoyed more was the little snake sub-beast’s sharing.
The little snake sub-beast who always thought of him, and was willing to share life with him no matter how small or big the matter was.
He would never burst this bubble of innocence.
Ye Ze pinched the little snake sub-beast’s cheek and smiled, “When the house here is built, Nuo Nuo will have plenty of opportunities to play with Fishy.”
The little whale gave Ye Ze an approving look: this guardian was not bad at all. He could cook, take care of the cub, and pay attention to their entertainment time. When they returned, they should ask the Dragon Clan to increase his salary!
“Yeah!” The little snake sub-beast nodded, their eyes shining brightly. “Will we also have a big boat for sailing and a beautiful harbor?”
“Of course we will.” Ye Ze affirmed.
After all, considering the possessiveness and jealousy of the three animals before, this whale probably wouldn’t be willing to carry anyone else.
And Ye Ze wouldn’t agree to let the little snake sub-beast spend all day alone with the whale either. 🙂
Imagining the prosperous harbor described by Ye Ze, the tip of the little snake sub-beast’s tail couldn’t stop swaying from side to side.
The joyful swimming posture of the little whale froze.
A hint of red flashed in its eyes, glaring at Ye Ze dangerously.
It was enough for its cub to have its own boat! What audacious suggestion was this bold guardian making! Did the Dragon Emperor approve? Be careful, it might have the Dragon Emperor revoke your position!
Ye Ze casually ignored the threatening gaze from the little whale.
— Since the groundhog entered his house, he was too familiar with that look.
He was tired of those three staring back and forth at him.
Ye Ze placed the skewers on the wicker table and took out the pre-ordered interdimensional delicacies. Then, he and the little snake sub-beast sat face to face, officially beginning a wonderful and warm seaside lunch.
The little pets, each with their own personalities but a common trait of being foodies, were once again captivated by the delicious food, lying in the water ball with satisfied round bellies.
The little snake sub-beast leaned against Ye Ze on the large sun lounger, soaking up the sun. Seeing the lazy and contented appearance of the little whale, he smiled with narrowed eyes. Raising his index finger, he reached into the water ball and poked the little whale’s belly.
Watching the little whale bobbing up and down at their touch, then adjusting its posture with a sulky expression, blowing bubbles in protest, the little snake sub-beast rolled over and hugged Ye Ze, laughing uncontrollably.
“!” Ye Ze quickly reached out to hold the little snake sub-beast’s waist, preventing them from bouncing around, feeling both amused and exasperated for a moment.
Oh my little ancestor, please take it easy.
My heart almost stopped because of you.
Ye Ze pinched the little snake sub-beast’s waist in a quasi-punishment manner, somewhat satisfied with his feeding results.
So he pinched again, and again.
“No more! Ye Zi, it tickles!” The little snake sub-beast twisted and turned on the sun lounger, grabbing Ye Ze’s arm to push it away.
“Will you behave next time?” Ye Ze took the opportunity to steal a kiss.
“No, no. Let go, please.” The little snake sub-beast’s cheeks flushed red, pleading repeatedly. He thought he would dare to do it again next time since Ye Zi wouldn’t let him fall.
Unbelievable. Even a good little baby knows how to play along.
Ye Ze chuckled softly. He patted the little snake sub-beast’s lower back, “Take a nap for a while. When you wake up, we’ll go back to the city to find Ming Ya and buy your school supplies.”
The little snake sub-beast blinked his eyes, looking eagerly at the sea outside the lounger.
The whale water ball instantly became active.
It was like coaxing a mischievous child to play.
“No.” Ye Ze pushed away the whale water ball with a slap, then held the little snake sub-beast’s chin, turning their disobedient little head back, “You’ve played enough today, it’s time to rest.”
“Oh.” The little snake sub-beast reluctantly withdrew his gaze, curling up on the lounger and hugging Ye Ze. He closed their eyes, and soon, the sound of his relaxed breathing could be heard.
What a little trickster. He wanted to frolic in the sea but ended up falling asleep faster than anyone else.
Ye Ze felt both amused and exasperated. He took a thin blanket and covered them both, then closed his eyes.
Next to the lounger, the vine nanny dutifully rolled up a transparent sunshade umbrella and opened it above the two.
The whale water ball swayed around the two, realizing that the blanket’s edge was blocking the airflow. It pouted and squeezed out a spot next to the little snake sub-beast’s pillow, lying down flat.
Sleeping with the cub.
Wonderful!
The little whale gently floated to the bottom of the water ball, exhaling a few contented bubbles, sinking into the first relaxed and pleasant dream in recent years.
A breeze passed by, carrying the freshest sea breeze, bringing warmth and just the right amount of moisture.
Above the sun lounger, layers of stacked white clouds dispersed. The warm sunlight poured down freely, like a golden glow weaving a blanket, draped over the little snake sub-beast.
It felt like a gentle, long-awaited reunion kiss.
