Is It Forbidden to Bully the Heroine of the Novel? - Chapter 66
Chapter 66
In the Jiang household, the young girl was sitting dazedly on the bed. When Jiang Yao entered and saw her, a smile immediately curved at the corner of her mouth. She called out to her, “A-Yun, are you awake?”
Song Muyun lifted her eyes to look at Jiang Yao and instinctively stretched out her arms. Jiang Yao quickly walked over, scooped her up along with the quilt, and placed her on her lap.
Coaxing her, she asked, “Are you hungry? Shall we go out for some pastries?”
Jiang Yao, gently pinching her fingers, spoke with a voice soft as water.
Song Muyun shook her head, leaning into her embrace, “I’m not hungry. I don’t need to eat. Where did you go? I couldn’t find you when I woke up.”
Hearing her ask, Jiang Yao’s back suddenly stiffened. She hadn’t figured out how to explain, so she tried to change the subject, “Did you have any nightmares just now?”
The little girl, upon hearing this, obediently shook her head but insisted on asking again, “Where did you go?”
It seemed she had to know.
With no choice, Jiang Yao could only tell her, “The Eighth Prince sent someone to call me over.”
Upon hearing the name of the Eighth Prince from her lips, Song Muyun’s lips slightly pouted in displeasure. She rubbed her head against Jiang Yao’s chest repeatedly, unable to resist digging deeper, “What did the Eighth Prince want with you?”
She wanted to know everything about Jiang Yao, especially her dealings with others.
Not a single detail should be missed.
Song Muyun’s eyes seemed naturally watery, looking at Jiang Yao with such an appealing gaze.
At this point, Jiang Yao was completely stiff. She was still hesitant to speak.
Seeing her hesitation, Song Muyun’s gentle voice rose, “Is it inconvenient to tell me, Yao Yao?”
Jiang Yao: !!!
When Muyun started calling her in that manner, it meant she was somewhat displeased.
Well, it wasn’t good to keep things from her. After all, it was her family’s affair, and she had the right to know.
Thinking this, Jiang Yao silently hugged Song Muyun tighter.
“It’s not that. I was just thinking about how to tell you.”
“Hmm? What did the Eighth Prince say? Just tell me directly, no need to think.”
Song Muyun was all innocence, still unaware of what had happened.
Jiang Yao pursed her lips, still hesitant, but her hand had already reached out, holding Song Muyun’s hand tightly.
“Murong Ci said… the Emperor has agreed to allow the Song family to return to the capital, but, your mother is seriously ill.”
Upon hearing the first part of the sentence, Song Muyun’s eyes immediately brightened, but as Jiang Yao finished speaking, the light in her eyes faded faster than anything else, disbelievingly widening her eyes at Jiang Yao, “What did you say?”
Jiang Yao felt unbearable, but the words were already out.
She gripped Song Muyun’s hand tighter, continuing, “Your mother is seriously ill, and it looks bad. The Song family is on their way back to the capital. Shall I accompany you to see her?”
Song Muyun was initially stunned, not reacting at first. Tilting her head slightly, she asked, “What?”
After Jiang Yao repeated it slowly, a hint of vulnerability appeared on her face, her expression panicked. She didn’t cry, but her eyes lost all their brightness, which, to Jiang Yao, was even worse than if she had burst into tears.
The young girl couldn’t bear to accept it. How could this be? Her mother had always been healthy. She had been thinking about how to talk to her mother about Jiang Yao when she returned to the capital.
How she would persuade her mother to accept her relationship with Jiang Yao…
But now, she was shocked by the bad news.
Song Muyun didn’t say anything, remaining silent. She was so upset that she couldn’t even eat dinner, only managing to sip a few mouthfuls of porridge that Jiang Yao coaxed her into eating, leaving the rest untouched.
Jiang Yao knew she was upset. That night, she gently patted Song Muyun’s back in bed, cooing, “It’s okay, I’ll accompany you to see your mother. Be good, don’t cry. I’m here, don’t be afraid. I will be with you.”
The person in her arms didn’t make a sound, but occasionally sobbed, letting Jiang Yao know she was crying, and her own clothes were soaked through, damp against her skin.
“Jiang Yao.”
Suddenly being called in a hoarse voice, Jiang Yao instinctively straightened her back and cleared her throat, asking, “What’s wrong?”
She sniffled before saying, “I dirtied your clothes.”
“It’s okay, a bath will clean it up. Don’t cry anymore, or your eyes will be swollen tomorrow.”
Song Muyun pursed her lips, nodding softly, “Okay, I won’t cry.”
For some reason, she had been very upset just before, but now she seemed to have calmed down, her gaze vacant as she stared at one spot. Jiang Yao went to wash up and changed into clean clothes, only to return and find Song Muyun sitting on the bed, lost in thought.
She went over to embrace her, saying nothing, then gently patted her back, trying to comfort her a bit, at least to make her feel less upset.
“Jiang Yao, I want to see my mother. Can you take me to her?”
Song Muyun, held in Jiang Yao’s arms, suddenly looked up and asked her.
She was somewhat willful, having thought about it for a long time, yet she couldn’t help but seek Jiang Yao’s help. No one else would help her except for Jiang Yao.
Jiang Yao’s expression softened, her gentle eyes meeting Song Muyun’s anxious ones. She seemed worried that Jiang Yao would disagree.
Silly girl, what’s there to disagree about? I’ve already said, your matters are my matters.
Jiang Yao chuckled softly, leaned down to nuzzle her face, and agreed, “Okay, I’ll take you out of the city tomorrow.”
The Song family was already on their way back to the capital, but Muyun, having heard of Lady Song’s illness, was eager to go to her immediately.
“Thank you, thank you so much…”
Hearing her agreement, the young girl immediately sobbed again, even thanking her, biting her lip lightly, as Jiang Yao lifted her chin and wiped away her tears with a handkerchief.
Jiang Yao coaxed helplessly, “We are family, your mother is my mother. There’s nothing to thank me for. Please, stop crying. If you cry like this, I’ll have to bathe and change again.”
Her tears flowed like rain, drenching her.
After a while, Song Muyun managed to hold back, opening her big, red eyes to look at Jiang Yao and nodding in agreement, “Okay, I won’t cry.”
Even though she was still upset, she knew crying wouldn’t solve anything. She had to see her mother…
As long
as they left the exile, they could find a doctor to prescribe medicine. Maybe everything would be okay?
Perhaps…
All night, Song Muyun’s heart felt light and unsettled, sleeping fitfully. The next day, she woke up early, urging Jiang Yao to take her.
With Lady Song’s incident, Jiang Yao and Jiang Hengliang Qingyin briefly explained the situation, then took Song Muyun out of the capital.
Just the two of them, riding horses out of the city.
Song Muyun didn’t know how to ride, but she still urged Jiang Yao to go faster, even faster, eager to see her mother.
The two sped along their way, and by evening, when they found an inn to stay at, Jiang Yao forcibly pushed her onto the bed, and without a word, began to undress her.
Song Muyun was shocked and blushed, struggling desperately to escape from Jiang Yao’s grasp, but Jiang Yao wouldn’t let her. She was strong and easily held Song Muyun down.
“What are you doing!”
Song Muyun was so embarrassed her eyes turned red, not from sadness but sheer embarrassment.
Jiang Yao hummed softly, “What can I be doing but checking your injuries and applying some medicine to prevent your bottom from rotting before you even see your mother.”
Her words were crude, showing no restraint, making Song Muyun even more embarrassed to look up.
“What are you talking about!”
In front of Jiang Yao was the beauty’s exposed, tender, and smooth buttocks, the rest of her skin pale and flawless, except for the area that had contacted the saddle, which was red and somewhat chafed. Jiang Yao raised her hand to touch it, and the beauty immediately cried out in pain, her brows furrowing deeply.
“Still trying to be tough.”
The beauty wasn’t used to riding and didn’t know how to ride comfortably, so naturally, she was injured after a whole day.
Jiang Yao lowered her head to scoop up a dollop of ointment, its coolness applied to Song Muyun’s reddened buttocks.
Finally, she stopped struggling, her face buried in the quilt, allowing Jiang Yao to proceed with her actions behind her.
Jiang Yao’s fingers rubbed the soft flesh, spreading the ointment evenly.
The cool sensation took away the lingering pain. After letting the ointment dry for a while, Jiang Yao called out to Song Muyun several times without hearing any response. Surprised, she looked down to see the young girl had buried herself in the quilt and fallen asleep.
Jiang Yao was taken aback, then somewhat helplessly reacted, but thought it was understandable, as she had been restless with nightmares these past few days and naturally tired.
She let her sleep for a while, seeing she didn’t wake up or get startled by dreams, sleeping even more sweetly, Jiang Yao felt a vague sleepiness herself. She simply went to bed, embracing her, completely removed her pants and threw them aside, then both of them slept together under the quilt.
Neither had managed to have their evening meal, sleeping through the night until morning before waking up one after another.
Song Muyun had a good night’s sleep, finally feeling a bit better, but still somewhat anxious.
Jiang Yao held her hand, and they went downstairs together for some food. After a hearty meal, they mounted their horses and headed towards the place of exile.
Jiang Yao’s medicine was excellent; Song Muyun’s injuries felt much better when she woke up this morning.
The two hurried day and night, soon encountering the Song family’s carriage returning to the capital.
Jiang Yao recognized at a glance that these were the people sent by the Emperor to fetch the Song family. She led Song Muyun off their horse, showed the Jiang family’s token, and was allowed in.
Song Muyun, anxious, didn’t even wait for Jiang Yao, climbing into the carriage herself, pulling aside the curtain, and was greeted by a strong scent of medicine. She locked eyes with the people sitting inside and saw the person lying there with her eyes closed. Choking up, she called out, “Second Aunt, Third Aunt, how is my mother?”
The ones called Second Aunt and Third Aunt seemed stunned, taking a moment to recognize Song Muyun before exclaiming in surprise. They patted Lady Song, who was lying in the carriage, “Elder sister, elder sister, look who’s here, Yun’er, Yun’er has come to see you!”
Lady Song was clearly weak, but upon hearing Song Muyun’s name, she managed to muster some response, barely opening her eyes. After staring intently for a while, her pale face suddenly brightened, “Yun’er, it’s Yun’er. How did you come?”
Biting her lush lips, Song Muyun wanted to cry but dared not, for her mother disliked seeing her cry.
She struggled to hold back her tears, speaking with a voice that was slightly hoarse, “Mother, it’s me. I came because I heard you were ill.”
Lady Song had her younger siblings help her sit up, her eyes unusually shimmering with tears, her pale lips trembling, “How did you come here? I remember the Emperor had you sent to the Bureau of Music. How did you manage to come?”
Women sent to the Bureau of Music had no freedom, and with the entire Song family being exiled, no one could help her. How could Muyun, a frail woman, find her way here?
“It was Jiang Yao, the daughter of the Prime Minister. She brought me here.”
Jiang Yao…
Lady Song had some impression of that name. Her husband had mentioned her before, saying she was a rare woman who despised evil and was not afraid of the powerful. She excitedly grasped Song Muyun’s hand, but the excitement made her cough heavily twice, her expression still unable to hide her joy,
“The Emperor has issued a decree. Our Song family has finally been vindicated. Were you also released from the Bureau of Music by the Emperor?”
Song Muyun didn’t dare to mention that she had been in the music house, merely nodding vaguely, “Yes, Mother, your daughter has been waiting for you to return to the capital so we can live well together.”
She held her mother’s hand tightly.
However, Lady Song shook her head, “I’m afraid I won’t be able to accompany you for much longer. You must take care of yourself. If you need anything, ask your male cousins for help, and find a good family to marry into…”
If she had the strength, she would not wish for her daughter to marry so soon. But she knew her time was limited, and she could only hope to find a good family to protect her daughter as soon as possible.
“Mother! You mustn’t speak like that. We will be fine, we must be!”
Song Muyun clutched Lady Song’s fingers, her expression mournful, feeling helpless and guilty, “I should have come to find you sooner… I should have come earlier…”
The Second and Third Aunts of the Song family couldn’t bear to watch any longer, turning their heads to look out the window. Yet, outside the window, there was a stranger, a woman riding a tall horse by their side. Seeing them lift the curtain, she turned her head and smiled warmly at them, truly steady and reliable.
