Is It Forbidden to Bully the Heroine of the Novel? - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
As time passed day by day, it quickly came to the day of Song Muyun’s first auction. Jiang Yao had prepared the money early and informed her father. However, on that particular day, various matters kept hindering her. First, a general she knew from before came all the way back to the capital and immediately sought an audience with the emperor upon arrival, insisting on having a few drinks with her. Then, the Princess Heyi, with whom she had no prior close relations, inexplicably left the palace to seek her company, insisting they go strolling through the flower street in the evening.
Being a princess, Jiang Yao couldn’t afford to have a bad attitude. She politely informed them she had prior commitments for the evening and couldn’t accompany them, but the pampered princess was insistent, pouting and demanding to go.
Jiang Yao’s face turned dark with anger.
After a while, she instructed Cui Zhu beside her, “Go and fetch Young Master.”
Cui Zhu acknowledged with a sound and hurried outside.
Princess Heyi, tilting her head, looked at Jiang Yao with some confusion. “Is Jiang Huai coming with us?”
She thought Jiang Yao agreed to go shopping with her.
But Jiang Yao remained silent with a cold expression.
Princess Heyi wasn’t familiar with this daughter of the Prime Minister’s house, who always enjoyed playing with swords and knives. She wouldn’t have come to seek her out if not for someone’s request!
She hadn’t expected Jiang Yao to be so obstinate!
Despite her soft tone, Jiang Yao didn’t say anything pleasing. Not only was she cold-faced, even the emperor had never been so cold to her.
Damn it!
Soon, Jiang Huai was summoned. The young man, full of energy, wore a black and red outfit that fluttered in the wind as he jumped in front of Jiang Yao. “Sis, what do you want? Say it quickly. I’ve arranged to go boating with a few friends today.”
Jiang Yao glanced at the somewhat dusky sky. “Boating at this hour?”
She looked at her brother as if he were foolish.
Her brother wasn’t pleased. “You know nothing, sis. Artists are different; boating in the evening has a special mood!”
Jiang Yao: …
Is he out of his mind?!
“I don’t care if you’re going boating with your friends. Do it tomorrow. Today, I have something to do. Help me entertain Princess Heyi.”
As soon as she said this, both of them were shocked.
Jiang Huai shifted his gaze towards a gorgeously dressed woman standing to the side, not daring to believe, “Is this Princess Heyi? My goodness, why would a princess come to play with you?”
Jiang Huai quickly distanced himself after getting a swift kick, not daring to say anything that might upset his sister, cowering and cringing.
Princess Heyi was also startled, silently taking a step back, retracting her neck. How could she have anticipated that Jiang Yao would take direct action? This Jiang Miss was too fierce!
She hesitated for a while, mentally prepared herself, then lifted her chin and said, “I don’t want Young Master Jiang to entertain me. I want you to entertain me. I want to go to the flower street with you!”
Jiang Yao unhesitatingly refused, “Sorry, Your Highness, I don’t like going shopping with others. Your Highness is sensible; you wouldn’t force someone against their will, right?”
The princess wanted to force her way but was pre-emptively given an excuse. She couldn’t force herself upon Jiang Yao, who remained firm in her decision.
Jiang Huai, aware of his sister’s affairs, dared not intervene. He also didn’t dare disobey her instructions and could only placate the princess.
At Moonrise Pavillion , the auction seemed to have started earlier than expected. When Jiang Yao arrived, it was already underway. Song Muyun was in a floor-length white dress, her face pale, with a hint of mist in her eyes, looking fragile.
A man in embroidered clothing shouted from the stage, “Fifty taels, anyone else willing to raise the bid?”
Just auctioning for a night, reaching fifty taels was considered a high price.
Jiang Yao rushed there, and before she could catch her breath, she heard those words. Hastily, she bid, “One hundred taels, I bid one hundred taels!”
A distinct female voice rang out. The crowd below immediately became noisy, craning their necks to see a red-clad woman panting and catching her breath a short distance away.
She was exceptionally beautiful, but unfortunately inclined toward women, leaving some men feeling regretful.
Having caught her breath, Jiang Yao, with a face covered in sweat, walked step by step toward the front. The crowd automatically made way for her. When she reached the front, she looked at the man on the stage with a cold and fierce gaze, “I said one hundred taels. Can’t you hear?”
The man seemed startled and quickly looked toward the masked man beside him.
Jiang Yao also glanced over.
Even though the man wore a mask, Jiang Yao could recognize him. It was that scoundrel Muyong Qing deliberately having Princess Heyi intervene, wasn’t it?
Should she give him another beating? That shameless guy, pretending to be a prince while having such ulterior motives, acting all honorable outside.
Muyong Qing, wearing the mask, looked at Jiang Yao, feeling a chill at her disdainful gaze.
That look made it seem as if she already knew his identity.
“Is this young lady bidding one hundred taels for Muyun for the night?”
Jiang Yao glanced back at the stage. Song Muyun was looking at her since she started bidding. She gave her a reassuring glance and confidently affirmed to the man, “That’s right. If no one can offer a higher price, she’s coming with me.”
The man in embroidered clothing looked at the masked man, Muyong Qing.
Muyong Qing was clenching his teeth under the mask, hating Jiang Yao to the core. She always ruined his good plans!
Everyone was looking at him, but after a while, he still spoke up, trying to maintain his composure, although his voice was tense, “One hundred and ten taels.”
Jiang Yao despised him even more. My god, so poor. If he’s this poor, what can Song Muyun see in him? Beauties need to be taken care of delicately. With such stinginess, is he planning on leading her through hardships?
Without hesitation, Jiang Yao raised the bid, “Two hundred taels.”
Muyong Qing: …
Who bids this much in one go? Can’t you raise your bids incrementally?
“Two hundred and ten taels!”
Muyong Qing increased the bid again.
It seemed like only the two of them were bidding throughout the auction.
Jiang Yao glanced at him disdainfully, thinking he was so stingy. Even the monthly salary of an adult prince was three hundred taels, and yet he’s so tightfisted. Fifty taels at most!
“No wonder you look at me with such disdain,” Muyong Qing said with a trace of threat. “Miss Jiang seems to have a fondness for grinding lenses. Does Prime Minister Jiang know about it?”
His words carried some threat, but Jiang Yao sneered. Every decision she had made had her father’s blessing. Why would she fear Muyong Qing, a powerless prince, and his three-sentence threats?
“Mind your own business, Prince Seven. Running out of money?”
The noise among the crowd increased.
“Prince Seven? How can Prince Seven have an interest in the daughter of a criminal?”
“Does the Emperor know about this? The Song family was punished not long ago. Isn’t this an insult to the Emperor’s decree?”
“Don’t discuss the Emperor. Miss Song was once renowned; perhaps Prince Seven has long admired her.”
Muyong Qing was surprised. He hadn’t expected Jiang Yao to reveal his identity so directly!
Author’s note: I caught up, I caught up! Sweetness is the essence of this work!
