Is It Forbidden to Bully the Heroine of the Novel? - Chapter 20
Chapter 20
It wasn’t until the semi-grown young man called out “sister” that Song Muyun came to her senses; it turned out to be Jiang Yao’s younger brother.
For some reason, her smile softened even more, her gaze becoming gentler. “Is your brother here? Hurry and let them sit down, don’t let them stand all the time.”
Jiang Yao, seeing her troublesome little brother, felt a headache coming on and glared at him. “Sit? Let him stand. He dares to come wandering in the pleasure quarter, how bold.”
Jiang Yao sneered at Jiang Huai, eyeing him sideways.
Jiang Huai had only just finished boasting to his friends about how he could do as he pleased at home when he got slapped in the face. Feeling embarrassed, he wanted to argue with Jiang Yao. “What about you? Aren’t you here in the pleasure quarter too? Why can you be here and not me?”
Without another word, Jiang Yao lashed her whip onto the floor in front of him, the sharp sound making Jiang Huai nearly jump out of his skin.
His friends dared not utter a word, staying as quiet as quails, inwardly praying, “Please don’t hit us after hitting him!”
“Do you think I’m the same as you?”
Jiang Yao asked coldly.
Jiang Huai, in his rebellious teenage years, attempted to appear brave. “Why not? We’re both here in the pleasure quarter. I’m just here for a meal. What about you? You even brought a woman here. Do you think I won’t tell mother that you have such good relations with someone? Let’s see how you’ll explain that!”
He jumped up, but Jiang Yao slammed the table, making him immediately lower his head and shut up. “You’re saying I have ‘good relations’ with someone?”
Although many people were rumored to have good relations, Jiang Yao never thought she was among them. Hearing her brother’s words, her first reaction was to beat him up.
“Getting tired of not causing trouble for three days? You come to the pleasure quarter and still have the nerve? Can’t you eat elsewhere?”
She cracked her knuckles, and Song Muyun, sensing her about to lash out, quickly reached out to stop her. “Let’s have a chat first, have a cup of tea to soothe your throat.”
In truth, it was to calm her down. Song Muyun also had a younger cousin at home and was a loving sister; she couldn’t bear to see Jiang Yao harshly educating her brother.
Jiang Yao grabbed Song Muyun’s hand, held by her, with dissatisfaction in her tone. “Look at what he’s saying. Daring to argue with me. Can men and women be compared? I can naturally come in, but why should he be allowed into the pleasure quarter?”
She glared at him, and though Jiang Huai wanted to retort, his voice faltered as he muttered, “Why can’t men be compared to women? Aren’t most of the visitors in the pleasure quarter men? Unmarried women hardly ever enter the pleasure quarter.”
His friends quickly nodded in agreement. After Jiang Yao’s gaze swept over them, they froze, afraid to speak, utterly afraid to say a word.
Jiang Yao spoke icily, “That might be how it is in other families, but in the Jiang family, men are not allowed in the pleasure quarter. How will your future wife view you?”
Jiang Huai fell silent because he realized, to his despair, that he couldn’t argue with his sister. She was full of twisted logic, and even if she had a day without twisted logic, she’d still use force to suppress him. He couldn’t resist!
Damn it, he would find a wife who practiced martial arts too!
“I’m just here for a meal. It’s up to others to judge how they see me…”
Before Jiang Huai finished speaking, Jiang Yao raised her whip, and he wisely shut up.
When someone was holding Song Muyun’s hand, she was too embarrassed to stop it. She blushed and seemed perfectly natural, as if she didn’t think there was anything wrong with Jiang Yao holding her hand.
She even had no intention of pulling her hand back, just letting Jiang Yao hold it so intimately.
“A bunch of half-grown kids, imitating others and coming here for a meal. If this gets out, your family’s reputation will suffer. Who cares if you came for food or for pleasure?”
As she scolded them, the door was pushed open by someone from Moon Pavilion, carrying exquisite dishes. As they entered, the young men, scolded into submission, dared not raise their heads. Jiang Yao snorted coldly and asked, “Dare to come again next time?”
Almost simultaneously, they all mumbled, “We won’t dare, we won’t dare.”
“Jiang family sister, spare us, please don’t tell our parents about this.”
Earlier, when Jiang Yao said she would truthfully inform their elders, it had scared the group of young people quite a bit.
They were still young and in school; who among them didn’t sneak here to see something new? If their elders found out, they wouldn’t be allowed out for a month.
Jiang Yao snorted lightly. “If you don’t want me to say anything, in the future, watch Jiang Huai for me. Don’t let him run to such places again. If I catch him here again, none of you will escape punishment.”
After casting a stern glance at everyone, they all nodded and looked sympathetically at Jiang Huai.
Through this incident, they finally understood Jiang Huai’s position at home—nowhere near as high as he’d boasted!
His sister could squash him like a bug with just one finger!
Seeing these kids obediently agreeing, Jiang Yao nodded satisfactorily. The dishes were almost served, and she graciously waved her hand. “Come sit and eat. I’ll go order a few more dishes.”
“Thank you, Jiang sister.”
Young people were skilled at reading people’s expressions. Seeing Jiang Yao’s mood relax, they immediately became more polite and well-behaved, calling her over.
Jiang Yao added a few more dishes and returned. Song Muyun was in conversation with her brother.
Suddenly, she remembered the dream that hadn’t happened yet. In the dream, Jiang Huai would fall for the female lead, Song Muyun. But he wasn’t the male lead, destined not to get the female lead. Losing the female lead meant losing his life.
Oh, right, she would lose her life and involve her entire Jiang family. Just when she was starting to feel a bit sorry for her silly little brother, Jiang Yao thought about the consequences and immediately became expressionless.
Walking over and sitting between the two, she created a stable distance, turning her head to ask gently, “What were you talking about?”
Jiang Huai:…
Her sister already had a bad temper before, and now it seemed even worse. She always wanted to hit him; why was she so gentle with other women? Why did she treat them kindly but wield a whip against him at every turn?
Song Muyun pulled at Jiang Yao’s sleeve and whispered, “We weren’t talking about anything. Your brother asked if you often come here.”
Jiang Yao glanced at Jiang Huai and snorted
. “Whether I come here or not has nothing to do with him. You don’t have to pay attention to him.”
Today, the little fairy was dressed in white, like an otherworldly being. When she smiled, she could almost enchant Jiang Yao.
“He’s your brother; how can I ignore him?”
This made Jiang Yao feel a bit suffocated, wondering, “Why can’t I just ignore my brother?” Did Song Muyun treat me this intimately?
I’ve always secretly criticized her in my mind. It was really uncalled for.
At this moment, Jiang Yao felt a bit regretful and guilty.
“Well, you just don’t need to care about him. You only need to care about me.”
She seemed casual, her hand hanging by her side. She squeezed Song Muyun’s hand, withdrawing it when the other looked over, inviting her to eat.
Jiang Huai sneered and tasted a dish from Moon Pavilion. Immediately, he wrinkled his nose and complained, “It’s not that tasty. I thought, with Mr. Lin’s recommendation, it would be some kind of delicacy.”
Jiang Yao glared at him. “Silent at the table, eat your food.”
Jiang Huai grumbled a few times but didn’t speak again. He just continued eating while sneaking glances at Song Muyun.
This beautiful woman…
No wonder his sister always came to see her, like a fairy.
Martial artists have sharp senses, and Jiang Huai could hardly overlook his sister’s gaze on Song Muyun.
Feeling a bit worried, he wondered, “Could this brat have taken a liking to her?”
If Jiang Huai liked Song Muyun, Jiang Yao would definitely separate her from Murong Qing. Should Jiang Huai and Song Muyun end up together?
Jiang Yao frowned, feeling a sense of reluctance. Even though Jiang Huai was her real brother, and no matter how much she disliked him now, he was someone she would take care of in the future. Yet, she felt that Jiang Huai wasn’t worthy of Song Muyun.
Song Muyun was beautiful and fragile, and someone worthy of her must be extremely powerful, capable of protecting her.
Jiang Huai, grown up but still acting like a child, hanging out with friends, was incapable of protecting Song Muyun. Murong Qing was even worse; he was sinister and unworthy to be near such a delicate beauty as Song Muyun.
Tsk, none of them were suitable. Forget it, why rush into marriage? Let’s wait. I’ll find her a good match; no hurry, no hurry.
As Jiang Yao was lost in her thoughts, she picked a tender piece of fish belly from the dishes in front of her and put it into Song Muyun’s bowl. “Eat up, once you’re done, I’ll ask the landlady to get you a different room.”
Song Muyun was eating delicately, her cheeks slightly puffed up. Hearing Jiang Yao’s words, she swallowed a bit first before tugging at Jiang Yao. “No need to bother; my current residence is fine.”
Jiang Yao insisted, “I’ll be coming here in the future, and where you’re staying might not suit me. Trust me, eat a bit more.”
She loaded up Song Muyun’s bowl with more dishes, successfully blocking her mouth.
