Is It Forbidden to Bully the Heroine of the Novel? - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
The two of them lay on the bed for a while. Jiang Yao straightened her waist, putting back on the white outfit she wore earlier. Song Muyun also changed into a snow-white dress, her lips natural without any rouge, her face still exuding an ethereal charm.
“Why so plain? What about the hairpin I gave you yesterday? Hurry up and put it on.”
Jiang Yao’s gaze fell on the small dressing table, where a neatly arranged box contained a red butterfly hairpin.
Caught under Jiang Yao’s scrutiny, Song Muyun had to reach for the hairpin and delicately inserted it into her hair, softly explaining while adjusting it, “The streets were crowded, I was afraid of losing it.”
The small, round beads on the hairpin dangled against her swan-like neck, looking beautiful.
Gulp. Jiang Yao couldn’t help but swallow nervously.
She hadn’t paid much attention to Song Muyun before, but now, every time she earnestly observed her, she found herself captivated. She was so stunningly beautiful, and she was falling for that scoundrel Murong Qing?
No way.
Jiang Yao couldn’t accept it.
Song Muyun finished arranging her hair and attire. Her captivating eyes turned toward Jiang Yao. “I’m ready. Shall we go?”
Jiang Yao was about to take her when she suddenly remembered something and looked Song Muyun up and down, asking, “How are your injuries? Can you walk? Or should I bring some food for you?”
The injuries from last night still hurt this morning, but after using the medicine she provided, they felt much better. As long as she didn’t move too much, the pain was bearable. Murong Qing didn’t dare to actually harm her; it was just superficial wounds.
With her hands slightly spread out, Song Muyun twirled around in front of Jiang Yao. “I’m much better now. Shall we go eat together?”
Jiang Yao had brought her in to treat her; she couldn’t let her bring food back for her. That would be spending money just to take care of her. Besides… she kind of wanted to dine with Song Muyun.
Song Muyun was gentle and had a good appetite, making Jiang Yao a bit envious.
Considering Song Muyun’s condition, Jiang Yao didn’t go far for the meal. She reserved a private room at the Moon Pavilion and ordered some dishes to be sent over.
However, just as they reached the door of the private room, laughter and chatter of young men came from downstairs. “Brother Jiang is usually confined at home. Today, it’s rare for him to come out. He must have a good time!”
Jiang Yao inexplicably felt that the voice was somewhat familiar, but she didn’t have many friends in the capital, let alone friends who frequented pleasure houses. For a moment, she couldn’t recall who the speaker was until…
Another young man’s voice followed, expressing displeasure. “Who said I’m confined at home? I always have my way at home. How could I be confined?”
Cracks appeared in Jiang Yao’s gentle expression she had when facing Song Muyun.
She had lingered at the door too long. Song Muyun, looking puzzled, glanced at her, wondering why she wasn’t entering.
“Hehe, you sit here for a while. I have something to attend to; I’ll be back soon.”
The last sentence almost ground out of Jiang Yao’s teeth.
Song Muyun looked at her blankly, not knowing what she was up to. Before she could ask, Jiang Yao didn’t explain further. With a cold face, she turned and walked a few steps quickly, leaning against the railing and peering downstairs. There, she saw Jiang Huai laughing and chatting with friends.
Jiang Huai hadn’t noticed her until a young man beside him felt the piercing stare and looked up, inadvertently meeting Jiang Yao’s fierce gaze.
The young man in green was startled, nearly stumbling down the stairs. His raised hand trembled. He remembered clearly the scene at the Jiang Residence when he witnessed Jiang Yao wielding a whip to chase Jiang Huai, causing chaos in the entire courtyard. That day, Jiang Yao’s ferocious image was established, truly frightening.
As Jiang Huai was about to continue walking, someone pulled him back. He turned around, looking at his dumbfounded friend, annoyed. “What? Let’s go! The food is taking too long. Let’s go order a few dishes first.”
As he tried to leave again, someone held him back once more.
With an annoyed expression on his handsome face, he looked at the friend who seemed clueless. “What now? Are we going up or not?”
The man in green didn’t dare to meet Jiang Yao’s fierce gaze. He lowered his head, trembling, and raised his other hand, gesturing to go upstairs.
Furrowing his brows, Jiang Huai, along with the other confused young men, looked up and met Jiang Yao’s teasing eyes and a faint smirk.
Instantly, all the young men shuddered. In the next moment, Jiang Yao stood up and walked straight to the staircase.
All the young men stared at her as she reached the stairs.
She adjusted her whip at her waist, and Jiang Huai, who had been terrified of her since childhood, instinctively shrank his shoulders and wanted to step back. However, under Jiang Yao’s stern gaze, he dared not move, only managing a nervous smile.
“At home, you’re always firm?”
Jiang Yao asked.
Jiang Huai hadn’t expected her to hear that. He wished the ground would open up and swallow him; he dared not speak, immediately closing his mouth. His friends nudged him, waiting for his rescue, but for a while, Jiang Huai managed to stutter, trying to change the subject. “Sis, what are you doing here?”
Jiang Yao sneered, “If you can be here, why can’t I?”
Jiang Huai immediately shut up, too afraid to make a sound.
Casting a cold glance at all the young men, Jiang Yao, with a harsh tone typical of a martial artist, said, “Everyone, come over here! You’re so young, yet you dare wander in the pleasure quarter?!”
In front of the madam who had hurried over after hearing the commotion, Jiang Yao brought the group of young men into the private room she had reserved.
Song Muyun was anxiously waiting inside. Seeing the group entering, she quickly stood up, looking at Jiang Yao, “Jiang Yao, what…”
She gazed puzzledly at the group of young men, some of whom recognized Song Muyun. They were surprised to see her here.
“Aren’t you Miss Song from the Song family? What are you doing here?”
As he spoke, he recalled the location and felt it was reasonable for Song Muyun to be here.
Jiang Yao casually went over, pulling Song Muyun to sit down, her voice softened in front of the girl, “What’s this? Do you know them?”
The young man didn’t dare to speak. Song Muyun lowered her head, revealing her slender, snowy neck, faint blue veins visible.
“I’ve seen them a few times. He’s Li’s younger brother, who used to visit my brother at our house.”
“Oh,
he often visits my brother too.”
Jiang Yao spoke, naturally taking Song Muyun’s fragile hand, sighing, “Why does it feel cold? Are you not dressed warmly?”
Doing so in front of so many people made Song Muyun embarrassed. She quickly pulled her hand back, whispering, “I’ve always had a cold body.”
Jiang Yao frowned, “This won’t do. I’ll find some medicine for you to warm your body when I have time.”
After the closeness they shared in bed, Jiang Yao considered their relationship to be quite close. She rubbed Song Muyun’s hand a couple of times, making the tips of her fingers warm before finally letting go.
However, in front of many young men, Song Muyun, treated so affectionately by her, blushed. She turned her head away, not daring to look at Jiang Yao.
Jiang Huai looked at his sister, who had always been fierce to him since childhood but was so gentle to others. He couldn’t help but ask, “Sister, are you sick?”
A fierce glance from Jiang Yao swept over, and he immediately shut up.
