Is It Forbidden to Bully the Heroine of the Novel? - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
—
“Prime Minister Jiang Heng, colluding with the enemy, treasonous acts, the Emperor has decreed, execution of the entire family—”
With one swift stroke, blood splattered everywhere, the sight turned entirely crimson. Jiang Yao suddenly woke up, panting heavily as she lay on the bed.
It had been a dream, a dream where she found herself within the plot of a story.
In this dream, the Seventh Prince, with whom she had always had a rocky relationship, was the leading male character. He harbored a hidden affection for Song Muyun, the daughter of the Deputy Minister of the Board of Civil Appointments, who had just been executed for deceiving the Emperor.
With Song Muyun’s father executed, the men of the Song family were banished to the border, and the women were forced into the brothels.
In this storyline, she discovered that the Seventh Prince had always held feelings for Song Muyun. He had confessed his affection to her, wishing to take her as a concubine, but Song Muyun politely refused him. Feeling slighted and humiliated, the Seventh Prince bore a grudge against Song Muyun. Upon her descent into the brothel, he immediately targeted her, humiliating her day after day, demanding she serve him as a slave and maid. Eventually, he purchased her and continued to torment her.
And then… her foolish younger brother took a liking to Song Muyun.
In his pursuit of support from the Jiang family, the Seventh Prince, who had developed some feelings for Song Muyun, gave her away to her younger brother.
She felt like a bystander, watching the Seventh Prince craft one scheme after another, ensnaring both her brother and father, all for the sake of a single woman.
Her brother, in his foolishness, despite his affection for someone, refused to confess his feelings and instead chose to humiliate her. This led Song Muyun to develop a bitter hatred for her brother. Once Song Muyun was with the Seventh Prince and the Jiang family’s utility had been exhausted, they were accused of rebellion and executed.
She knew nothing, yet disaster was upon her!
She was undoubtedly the most innocent in all of this!
Oh, and her father, for having such an unfilial son like Jiang Huai, led the entire family into the gates of the underworld.
‘Miss, you’ve awakened. Would you like some Tremella soup?’
Jiang Yao hadn’t yet calmed her racing heart when she heard the crisp voice beside her, belonging to her close maid, Cui Zhu.
Yes, this was not in her dream. None of that had actually happened!
Who was responsible for the Jiang family’s plight? It was her foolish brother!
Jiang Yao’s eyes lit up, her target clear. Without a word, she leaped off the bed and dashed towards her brother’s courtyard.
Jiang Huai was taking a day off today, having just invited a few friends over to play. Suddenly, a whip lashed out, narrowly missing him.
‘Who dares to plot against me!’
Jiang Huai turned angrily, only to come face-to-face with his sister, clad in fiery attire.
‘Sister? What’s gotten into you to suddenly hit me like this?’
‘Tsk, it’s you, the unfilial son.’
As she spoke, Jiang Yao brandished the whip, causing him and his friends to scatter in a frenzy.
While fleeing, they cried out for help, ‘Oh my, what’s gotten into Sister, stop it, stop it! Ah, my butt! You guys, my good friends, help me! I’m going to be beaten to death!’
Having visited the Jiang family several times, they all remembered Jiang Miss as gentle and gracious. What happened today was, well, entirely unexpected.
After pondering for quite some time, even the literary types couldn’t come up with an appropriate adjective. Among them, one in a green robe attempted to seize Jiang Yao’s whip.
But he ended up sprawled on the ground from her whip.
The gentleman in yellow didn’t dare intervene; he could only shout, ‘Miss Jiang, if Brother Jiang did something wrong, there should be a reason for the punishment. Don’t beat him again, or he might die!’
‘He’s still lively, nowhere near dying. Back off, or I’ll beat all of you!’
‘Ah, don’t hit me, don’t hit me, not the face! Father, Mother, help, my sister’s gone mad—’
Jiang Huai’s parents cried out in disarray, but they were bound to be disappointed.
The Prime Minister and his wife had gone
out to socialize today, leaving only them at home.
Determined to vent her frustrations from the dream, Jiang Yao was about to lash out again when she heard Jiang Huai’s frantic plea, ‘Your Highness Seven, Your Highness Seven, help! My sister has gone mad!’
Seven Highness?
Jiang Yao’s expression froze. She instinctively recalled the dream where an Emperor, adorned in bright yellow robes, had condemned her entire family to execution. Because of Jiang Huai’s foolishness, he could do anything to punish Jiang Huai except execute the entire Jiang family!
The Jiang family had once been indebted to Mu Rongqing. In her dream, the Prime Minister’s residence had supported Mu Rongqing, clearing numerous obstacles for him. But once Mu Rongqing ascended to the throne, he played favorites?
A heartless being.
While the events in her dream were uncertain, they had still affected Jiang Yao in some way. Just as the clear voice behind her urged to halt, she hesitated, then turned away, her expression near apathetic.
Her countenance grimaced.
Mu Rongqing was about to inquire why Jiang Yao was whipping someone, but he was abruptly startled by her cold demeanor.
Why did Jiang Yao regard him with such disdain, as if… she was utterly fed up with him?
Mu Rongqing couldn’t understand, but he quickly composed himself, wearing a gentle and genteel smile. ‘Miss Jiang, I don’t know what wrongs Ah Huai has committed to deserve such punishment from you?’
‘Oh, he’s unfilial.’
Jiang Huai almost leaped up in protest, ‘You’re talking nonsense! When have I been unfilial? Don’t take advantage of my parents’ absence to bully me!’
Mu Rongqing added, ‘Unfiliality is a serious offense. I wonder, Ah Huai, were you unfilial to your uncle or to your aunt?’
Jiang Yao’s expression was devoid of emotion. ‘To me.’
Mu Rongqing:…
‘You better not be kidding me.’
He appeared somewhat surprised. ‘Miss Jiang, you’re neither Ah Huai’s parent nor his elder. Why would Ah Huai owe you filial respect?’
Jiang Yao was impatient; her hands twitched, but she refrained from committing the barbaric act of hitting a prince. She looked thoroughly displeased. ‘I say he does; Your Highness Seven, don’t concern yourself too much.’
Mind your own business. Regardless of whether the dream was real or not, she wouldn’t let her father stand on the side of Seven Highness. It was better to stay neutral, so if, by any chance, the dream was real?
She needed further observation, fearing that Seven Highness might not be as he appeared in the dream.
Jiang Yao cast an irritable glance at Mu Rongqing.
Mu Rongqing was taken aback; he couldn’t recall doing anything to upset Jiang Yao recently. Why was she behaving this way?
Jiang Huai was also shocked, wearing a mournful expression. ‘Sis, what did I do wrong? Even if you want to beat me to death, at least let me understand why.’
Gosh, not even the Seventh Highness could save him. Did he inadvertently commit some outrageous, death-worthy mistake?
Jiang Huai felt utterly desolate.
Having experienced a dream where her family was randomly sentenced to execution, Jiang Yao became angry whenever she saw Jiang Huai, glaring at him. ‘Your mistake lies in being too foolish, truly disappointing the lessons I’ve taught you.’
Jiang Huai couldn’t believe it; he desperately wanted to ask, ‘What did you teach me?’
But seeing the whip in his sister’s hand, he merely quivered his lips and kept silent.
Afraid of being thrashed, he chose to endure it!
Jiang Yao glared at him, and seeing him keep his mouth shut, she decided to spare him further punishment. Glancing at Seven Highness, she suddenly said, ‘Jiang Huai, open your eyes wide next time, don’t believe everyone and make friends with anyone.’
Having said this, without even looking at Seven Highness, she walked away, leaving Mu Rongqing feeling quite uncomfortable. He didn’t know why, but he had this feeling of being mocked. What was the implication behind her words?
