If You Want Me - Episode 74
<Episode 74>
I don’t know what state of mind I was in from getting off the boat to getting into the car.
I was so seasick that all my energy was drained. Do-gyeom and Secretary Bae seemed a bit better, maybe because they took motion sickness medicine or because they were alphas with excellent physical strength. However, Seo-won was almost in a half-dead state.
Do-gyeom told me to sleep on the way up to Seoul, so Seo-won rested his head on Do-gyeom’s shoulder and fell asleep. I fell asleep almost like I fainted, and the car didn’t shake much, so by the time I woke up, we had arrived at our destination.
Seo-won got out of the car with a dazed face, having just woken up, and showed a surprised reaction upon seeing the building.
“This isn’t the company.”
Since the schedule was tight, I thought it was because of the meeting Secretary Bae had emphasized. But the place we arrived at was not the company. It was in front of the obstetrics and gynecology clinic where Seo-won had been examined.
Seo-won looked up at the building with a blank face, then turned his gaze to Do-gyeom and asked.
“Why the hospital… Didn’t you say there was a meeting today?”
“I postponed it. Let’s go in.”
Do-gyeom spoke nonchalantly, then put his arm around Seo-won’s shoulder and led him into the ob-gyn clinic.
It’s not an appointment with a friend, but a company appointment, so can he just change the time like that?
Seo-won had no choice but to walk, but he was worried that he might be disrupting work because of him.
“Didn’t you say there was an important meeting today? Can you just postpone it like this?”
“There’s a more important schedule, so it can’t be helped.”
“The hospital is the important schedule?”
Seo-won asked with an absurd face, but Do-gyeom nodded as if asking why he was questioning the obvious.
Judging from his expression, he was serious. It seemed like the conversation wasn’t going to go anywhere. Seo-won gave up on getting an answer from Do-gyeom and asked Secretary Bae, who was following behind.
“Secretary Bae, do you also think the hospital schedule is more urgent?”
“Well…”
Secretary Bae made a troubled expression as if asking why he was asking such a question, then pressed his lips tightly together upon receiving Do-gyeom’s narrowed gaze. It seemed like he wouldn’t get a proper answer from Secretary Bae either.
If it was an emergency situation where every minute and second was urgent, I could understand coming to the hospital. But right now, Seo-won was very much fine. Although there was a feeling of drained energy in his arms and legs as an aftereffect of seasickness, it wasn’t to the point of needing to come to the hospital.
I understood his concern since I hadn’t been able to get a proper examination at the hospital so far. However, getting the exam a few hours later wouldn’t change anything. Seo-won made a face showing he couldn’t understand, but Do-gyeom didn’t budge.
There was a lot I wanted to say, but it was already our turn and he said he postponed the meeting time, so there was nothing I could do at this point.
…Right, it’s his company, not the company I work for. Whether the work gets messed up or not, it’s none of my business.
Seo-won had no choice but to receive all the tests the nurse told him to do for the examination. After waiting a bit, the examination room door opened.
“Mr. Yoon Seo-won, please come into the examination room.”
Secretary Bae waited outside the examination room, and Seo-won went in together with Do-gyeom as the guardian.
As Seo-won sat in the examination room chair, the doctor looked alternately at Seo-won and Do-gyeom, then opened his mouth.
“You came with the alpha today.”
Although I only came once, for some reason the doctor remembered Seo-won.
Seo-won smiled awkwardly, thinking he would be scolded for not coming to the hospital since then. But the doctor’s sharp words were directed at Do-gyeom, not him.
“Usually alphas come to get examined together, but last time only the patient’s mother came, so I wondered what the alpha was doing. You weren’t married yet either.”
His tone and expression were only kind, but there was a strangely sharp feeling. It was the spirit of a strong-willed person suppressing the other person without getting angry.
W-Why is he suddenly doing that? They should be meeting for the first time, so they won’t fight, right? Seo-won was flustered and rolled his eyes, but Do-gyeom answered calmly without getting angry.
“We will come often from now on. Together.”
“You made a good decision. Then shall we look at the results now?”
Fortunately, the atmosphere eased quickly.
Phew… Seo-won let out a sigh of relief in secret, and the doctor looked at the record and nodded with a not bad expression.
“It seems your morning sickness has lessened a bit. The figures came out more stable than last time. There don’t seem to be any particular abnormalities either.”
“That’s a relief…”
“Yes. However, even if you enter a stable period, since you’re a recessive omega, you can’t be at ease compared to other omegas. As I said last time, these things get better the more time you spend together with your alpha.”
“……”
Together…
As Seo-won glanced at Do-gyeom, he overlapped his hand on top of Seo-won’s hand resting on his knee, as if he had been waiting. It seemed like an action to reassure him.
It wasn’t intentional, but with the new contract, the time spent together with him would increase. Naturally, he could also receive the influence of pheromones. Thinking that way, it was really a relief.
After hearing a bit more about the test results, an ultrasound examination was conducted like last time. Since the feeling of getting an ultrasound for the first time was so amazing, I was looking forward to and nervous about how much Tteokbokki had grown.
With a trembling heart, I lay on the bed and looked at the screen, and like last time, the screen buzzed and something appeared.
The shape of Tteokbokki seen through the screen was completely different from last time. Previously, there was only something the size of a bean. It was so small and had no shape that it was hard to understand how it would become a baby.
But this time, it was different. The body and head were clearly visible. The head was large and the body was very small. I couldn’t believe something like this was inside my belly, and I could even see the arms and legs wriggling.
Do-gyeom was just as surprised and amazed. It seemed to be his first time coming to see the ultrasound, so he looked even more surprised. He was staring at the screen without blinking an eye.
As Do-gyeom and Seo-won couldn’t take their eyes off the screen, the doctor explained with a small smile.
“Fortunately, the baby is growing well. The shape of the head is pretty too. You can see the arms and legs moving, right?”
“Yes…”
“The baby is a bit small for the number of weeks, but for recessive omega fetuses, most are around this size. It’s not to the point of being a problem. There are no signs of deformity either.”
Although I couldn’t come to the hospital often or give it much attention, fortunately Tteokbokki was growing well and strong.
I felt a little sorry for making the baby suffer by not being able to frequently come in contact with Do-gyeom’s pheromones and living in an unfamiliar place without anyone I knew while riding on a boat.
While feeling joy and guilt, the ultrasound examination ended. As I left the examination room with a solemn feeling, Do-gyeom naturally paid at the counter.
While waiting next to him, the nurse at the counter returned the pregnancy omega booklet to Seo-won and said.
“I put in the fetus photo like last time. Please check it.”
“Thank you.”
Seo-won answered with a smile and immediately opened the booklet on the spot. The image of Tteokbokki that we had just seen on the ultrasound was captured in the booklet.
It had only been a few minutes since I saw it, but it felt new as if I was seeing something new. I wanted to keep looking at it, but there was a schedule ahead. I was about to put it in my bag to look at it after sending Do-gyeom back to the company, but Do-gyeom grabbed Seo-won’s hand.
“Let me see that.”
“Yes…? Okay.”
Why is he suddenly asking for the pregnancy omega booklet? When Seo-won handed the booklet to him, Do-gyeom stood there and blankly looked down at the booklet. Then he alternately looked at the first ultrasound photo and today’s photo and fiddled with the photos.
I wondered why he suddenly asked for it, but it seemed Do-gyeom also found it amazing and surprising to see the fetal photos. Although he had seen the pregnancy omega booklet before, at that time he hadn’t even thought it would be his child, so he must not have properly looked at it.
I understood his actions because when I first received the booklet at the hospital, I also fiddled with it several times. Since this was my second time seeing it, I was relatively less moved than that time, so I left it for him to look at. But Do-gyeom muttered softly.
“The photos seem too empty.”
The pages were a bit empty after taking the first fetal photo. He seemed quite disappointed that there weren’t many photos even though he wanted to see more of the baby.
Indeed… When Seo-won first received the pregnancy omega booklet from the nurse, he also thought he wanted to fill the pages. I wanted to see how Tteokbokki was growing. However, the circumstances didn’t allow it. Because I was always running away…
Seo-won answered in a voice full of bitterness.
“It’s because I couldn’t go to the hospital much while I was away.”
“Let’s go often from now on.”
Perhaps because Do-gyeom knew that the biggest reason Seo-won couldn’t visit the ob-gyn clinic often was because of him, he spoke with a voice full of responsibility and met Seo-won’s eyes.
I knew that he was treating me so well now and trying to take responsibility and protect the baby because of the one-sided imprinting. But his appearance was so gentle and nice, as if we were dating… Seo-won silently nodded in agreement.
While looking into the booklet together, we leisurely got into the car, and Do-gyeom personally fastened Seo-won’s seat belt and asked.
“By the way, have you picked a prenatal name?”
“Yes.”
“What is it?”
Do-gyeom asked, his eyes twinkling. Has he ever shown this much curiosity before?
I wanted to answer since he was curious, but on the other hand, I was hesitant to say it because I was afraid he would laugh at the old-fashioned prenatal name. It’s true that my mom told me to pick an old-fashioned one, but I felt a bit embarrassed to tell him.
Seo-won mumbled his lips and answered in a crawling voice.
“…Tteokbokki.”
“Tteokbokki? You picked a name just like you.”
Surprisingly, Do-gyeom didn’t tease him. Rather, he reacted as if it was well-chosen.
But… he said it was well-chosen to be “just like you”? What does that mean? Wondering if he was being sarcastic, Seo-won frowned one eyebrow and asked.
“Like me?”
“Because you’re white and soft like a rice cake, didn’t you name the baby that way so the baby would resemble you?”
“…?”
What the… Is he joking? No, is he seriously saying that?
Seo-won looked at Do-gyeom with a strange face, but he was blinking his eyes as if he was sincere. He had a face asking what the problem was.
