“Shi Yi, when you’re at uncle’s house, treat it as your own. If you need anything, just tell your aunt. If that boy Pei Xing dares to bully you, let me know, and I’ll handle it for you.”

Shi Yi cautiously expressed his gratitude but didn’t say much more, sitting there silently.

Seeing Shi Yi’s timid demeanor, Father Pei intended to encourage the boy to be more open but then considered his bullying accident, he sighed heavily inwardly. He wasn’t sure how to address this topic with Shi Yi, so he instructed his wife to prepare some food for him.

In the evening, when Pei Xing returned from school, he was summoned to the study room for a conversation concerning Shi Yi. Back when they shared that secret, they had enjoyed a close friendship. However, they lost touch for three years as they got busier with cram school competitions and exams. It was only now that Pei Xing learned Shi Yi was here, and he was very happy with the news.

Since he promised to look after Shi Yi, Pei Xing took a glass of milk and went to Shi Yi’s room that night. Their rooms were adjacent on the top floor. In this family, Pei Xing was the most suitable person to assist Shi Yi with applying ointment. They were close childhood friends, and there was no reason for them to mock each other.
