- Chapter 71 - Together for Life (End) I
Shi Yi and Pei Xing resumed their life of raising children, with Pei Xing taking on the role of teaching the two children most of the time.
In the past, Xiao Liu was often helped by Hong Luo when he didn’t understand, but now it was Shi Yi’s turn to help with their children’s education.
However, Shi Yi’s lack of proficiency in teaching was evident, and he often felt embarrassed.
As a result, the responsibility of educating the children fell mostly on Pei Xing. In addition to daily martial arts instruction, he had to handle their academic education, keeping him very busy and leaving him with little time to spend with Shi Yi.
.
The village school had been closed since Song Ning went to the county, and the subsequent wars in various regions had prevented its reopening. Now, with peace in the land, Pei Xing and Chu Nan decided to expand the school. They invested significant resources to invite talented scholars to teach.
Pei Yi started attending the school with other village children, but Pei Xing still dedicated an hour each day to teach him martial arts.
The little Pei Xun, being just over three years old, was too young for school, so he was being taught at home. They planned to send him to school when he reached the age of six.
Pei Xing finally found some time to take a small boat and treat Shi Yi to a rafting trip.
Over the past few days, the two nannies at home had observed the routine nature of Shi Yi and Pei Xing’s relationship. The master was generous and treated the wife kindly, far from the harsh treatment they had seen in some households who treated their wives or concubines like a group of burden.
In preparation for their master’s trip to the lake, the two nannies made sure everything was ready for them.
.
The couple didn’t venture far; they rowed down the river at the village’s entrance, eventually reaching a lotus pond.
Sitting together, Shi Yi plucked lotus seeds from the pods and fed them to Pei Xing. While they enjoyed this simple activity, they gazed at the starry night sky.
Shi Yi expressed his wonder, saying, “It feels so magical. Looking back, it’s still hard to believe. I must have accumulated blessings for ten lifetimes to have met you again.”
Pei Xing leaned in and kissed Shi Yi’s eyelids, teasingly asking, “What nonsense are you talking about? Weren’t you utterly annoyed by me?”
Shi Yi playfully responded, “Yes, in our previous lives, you were constantly forcing me, and I genuinely found you incredibly annoying.” He laughed joyfully, his eyes brighter than the stars above.
Sitting upright, he held Pei Xing’s face in his delicate hands, kissing him passionately. Pei Xing reciprocated, and they shared numerous kisses. Every time they drew close, their hearts raced, and the sweet scent of lotus seeds filled their intimate moments.
Eventually, they pulled away, breathless. Pei Xing held Shi Yi close, their foreheads touching, and asked, “Do you love me now?”
Shi Yi smiled, kissing him once more, and replied, “Why do you even ask? If I didn’t love you, I wouldn’t have married you.”
Pei Xing chuckled and kissed him deeply, then reached to unfasten Shi Yi’s belt. Shi Yi felt a shiver down his spine as he realized his underwear had been removed. He teasingly called Pei Xing a pervert bastard.
Pei Xing smiled gently, kissed Shi Yi’s forehead, and asked, “Darling, did you love me in your past life?”
Shi Yi hesitated, saying, “Well, not really, you were quite bothersome in my previous life, so I didn’t like you.”
He puckered his lips, refusing to say more and even biting Pei Xing.
Pei Xing was undeterred, carried Shi Yi to the cabin, laying him on the only soft spot, and kissed his trembling eyelashes.
“If you don’t cooperate, I’ll have to punish you.”
Shi Yi felt a bit apprehensive as he knew Pei Xing’s physical strength was extraordinary.
“Please, don’t play around.”
“Are you scared? Then tell me, have you fall in love with me now in this life?”
Pei Xing persisted with his question, showing no intention of letting it go.
“Why do you keep bringing this up?” Shi Yi bit his lower lip, resting his head on Pei Xing’s shoulder, and whispered, “What if I admit it? I like you; I love you very much, and we’ve been together for so many years now. Why are you still stuck on this?”
Pei Xing also understood this, holding Shi Yi’s warm body in his arms. His heart felt incredibly better; he couldn’t fathom why he needed to confirm it repeatedly.
Now that Shi Yi had openly acknowledged it, Pei Xing felt a mixture of excitement and remorse. In his previous life, he behaved poorly, forcing Shi Yi to like him, and causing hurt. Yet, he had still earned Shi Yi’s affection now. He felt he didn’t deserve any of Shi Yi’s affection.
