Episode 7: [Magic Armor]

A year has passed since then. Finally, today, I will have my revenge on the monsters.

Well, I’ve been coming to the forest from time to time. I realized it was safe to create a dome of earth at the exit of the tunnel using magic. By making peepholes, I can see the surroundings, and if monsters approach, I can shoot [Bullets] from there. Why didn’t I think of that at the time? I must have been really excited. I can’t help but feel embarrassed.

Just to be safe, I moved the tunnel exit deeper into the forest. The location of the tunnel exit and the dome stands out because the ground is exposed. So far, I haven’t seen anyone in this forest, but just to be safe.

By using the tunnel and the dome, I can now collect wild grasses and fruits, making the dining table slightly more abundant. This forest seems to have rich vegetation, as I found berries, tomato-like fruits, and banana-like fruits. The vegetation here is beyond rich, isn’t it? But well, it’s another world after all. Although it doesn’t compare to the genetically modified fruits of my previous life, they tasted extremely delicious to me because I hadn’t eaten anything decent since I was reincarnated.

I also found beans and potatoes, but I don’t have a way to cook them, so I skipped them. There’s no kitchen in that cottage, and if I make smoke in the forest, people or monsters might come.

For the same reason, I decided to stop eating meat. Also, it’s gross. When using [Bullets], it explodes. It’s gross.

I also made [Bullets] with reduced power just in case. They don’t explode, but they sometimes fail to kill the target, so they’re not very practical.

Also, I realized while hunting monsters that there probably aren’t levels in this world like in games. At least, I’ve never experienced a dramatic increase in my abilities when defeating monsters.

However, through a year of intense magical training and modifications, I’ve expanded my capabilities quite a bit. Today, I’m going to confirm that.

“Alright, let’s do this! [Magic Armor]!”

I activate the magic inside the dome. It takes about two minutes for my whole body to be covered in a stone full-body armor, and stone maces also appear in my hands.

“Alright, it’s done!”

This is the new magic I completed over the past year, [Magic Armor]. By activating [Magic Armor], I create a stone armor and maces with earth attribute magic, and forcefully move them with [Body Enhancement]. I also keep [Magic Detection] activated at all times.

It’s a combination of everything I tried to do a year ago. Initially, I tried various combinations, but they were all troublesome with pros and cons. So, I consolidated them all into this [Magic Armor]. I did it on a whim, but the power of imagination is amazing. Seriously.

Well, the idea of combining multiple magics into one was just inspired by the protagonist of the original story. But still, I’m amazed by Mine-kun’s talent for pulling it off.

“Mine-kun is pretty much a cheat, huh…”

However, this magic is far from complete. It takes a long time to activate, and the magic consumption is tremendous. As a result, I can maintain the magic for an extremely short time. Currently, it’s about five minutes. It’s already a considerable improvement, though.

By the way, the eye part of the full-face helmet is also completely covered, so I can’t see the front. Instead, I cover it with the constant use of [Magic Detection]. I can’t see with my eyes, but I can feel where everything is like it’s in my hand. It was quite difficult to get used to at first. A significant portion of the one-year preparation period was spent on this. How many times did I wish for [Magic Eyes]? With [Magic Eyes], you can see magic power.

Why did I cover my eyes to that extent? The reason is quite simple.

“I couldn’t handle the gore…”

That’s right. I didn’t have much aversion to killing itself, but I didn’t have any tolerance for gore. I vomited immediately. I thought it was impossible. But if I don’t fight, I won’t survive. So, I decided not to look. If you want to laugh, go ahead. Mine-kun was smiling bitterly.

I switch my mindset and take a step forward. Yeah, I can somehow walk in the forest. The pace is slower than usual walking, but I should be fine once I get used to it.

“It feels like I’m controlling a robot… oh, it’s a goblin.”

I sense a monster entering the range of [Magic Detection]. Fortunately, there’s only one, which is just right. Normally, I’d take care of it quickly with a [Bullet], but this time, it’s a performance test for [Magic Armor]. I head towards the goblin.

“Gyagyaa!”

The goblin, noticing me, swings its club at me, but I catch it with my left arm.

“Gyagya?”

“Wow, it doesn’t hurt at all.”

I took a hit from the club with my arm, but [Magic Armor] didn’t even flinch. There don’t seem to be any scratches on the surface. Thanks to [Magic Cloak], there’s no impact either. It seems to have the defensive performance I imagined. The armor of [Magic Armor] is the hardest thing I can produce right now. It has enough defense to withstand even [Bullets]. However, since it’s my first real battle deployment, I was a little scared, but let’s keep that between us.

“Oops.”

“Gyah!”

The goblin, bewildered by the fact that its attacks were ineffective, comes back to its senses and attacks, but I strike it with my mace. Thanks to [Body Enhancement], my body doesn’t get thrown around, and I blow up the goblin’s head. Yeah, it’s a good thing I couldn’t see that. I still need to adjust this part. It’s hard to control the intensity since I increased the strength of [Body Enhancement] to move while wearing the armor. It would make me feel sick even if I couldn’t see it, if I blew them up every time.

“Well, it was quite a productive time.”

I spent the remaining time of [Magic Armor] confirming my body’s movements. Walking was no problem, but controlling my body became difficult when running or jumping. There are also several points for reflection, so it’s a future task.

Honestly, I’m a bit overpowered around this part of the forest, but I don’t know what the marquis’ family intends to do with me, and there’s also the original work to consider. Worst-case scenario, I might even end up opposing the “Sword Saint.” Even if winning is impossible, I want to at least be able to escape intact. I need to make sure not to waste the remaining time.
