I Possessed a Terminally Ill Omega – Episode 217
Seo I-Kyung felt as if his rapidly beating heart had suddenly dropped. There was no change visible on Han Seung-jae’s face. Up close, Han Seung-jae still appeared cold and composed.
“Seung-jae…”
Seo I-Kyung unconsciously swallowed hard. He struggled to continue speaking.
“You didn’t… do that, right?”
Seo I-Kyung’s eyes were trembling slightly. It was evident that while he wasn’t sure of his own words, he desperately wanted to believe them.
Han Seung-jae’s sharp gaze gradually softened. He reached out his hand again while looking at Seo I-Kyung’s face. Though Seo I-Kyung flinched slightly, he didn’t avoid Han Seung-jae’s hand and quietly offered his forehead.
Seo I-Kyung’s forehead, which Han Seung-jae’s palm touched, still had a low fever. Although Han Seung-jae’s hand temperature was relatively low, Seo I-Kyung had just woken up after being ill in bed. Seo I-Kyung’s tendency to be startled easily by small things was nothing new.
However, as Secretary Park had said, Seo I-Kyung’s reaction to Min Ra-hyun’s name suggested that he must have overheard his phone conversation.
“It was my oversight.”
After contacting the doctor, Secretary Park, who was leaving the study belatedly, paused briefly in front of the open room door. On the table, there were traces of snacks indicating someone had been there, and a teapot was sitting on the floor.
Butler Do, who had been speaking about Seo I-Kyung’s condition earlier, seemed flustered, his mind completely preoccupied. He apparently hadn’t thought to clean up this place. So it wasn’t difficult to guess that Seo I-Kyung had been staying in this room.
“Not knowing you were in that room. You probably overheard my phone conversation.”
Han Seung-jae slowly lowered his hand as he finished recalling. Seo I-Kyung still had a look in his eyes hoping Han Seung-jae would say it wasn’t him. And Han Seung-jae gave the answer Seo I-Kyung wanted.
“I must have told you. That he left this house.”
Where Min Ra-hyun went after that was not Han Seung-jae’s concern. What was clear was that there was someone who could testify to this fact.
“If you don’t believe my words.”
Han Seung-jae calmly took the glass from Seo I-Kyung’s hand and placed it on the bedside table. He then picked up the tray with the porridge bowl and placed it on Seo I-Kyung’s legs.
“How about Secretary Park? He was there.”
Clank. Han Seung-jae removed the cover from the porridge bowl and set it aside. He nodded.
“Eat. When you finish this, I’ll call Secretary Park.”
Seo I-Kyung grasped the spoon. Conscious of Han Seung-jae’s gaze, he scooped up a little porridge and brought it to his lips. His mouth tasted bitter. He didn’t feel like eating. Nevertheless, Seo I-Kyung opened his mouth and swallowed the porridge.
However, Seo I-Kyung couldn’t meet Secretary Park. After finishing half the porridge, his fever rose again and he had to lie down.

The next day, as noon approached, Secretary Park entered the house. Butler Do greeted him.
“Director Han is currently in the study.”
As he walked, Secretary Park’s gaze fell on the doctor sitting on the sofa. He was rubbing his face repeatedly, trying to fight off sleep.
His eyes were red and there were dark circles under them, probably from not sleeping all night. Butler Do approached the doctor, placed a glass of cold water next to him, and then turned away.
Secretary Park took the elevator to the second floor. Knock knock, he knocked twice on the door and entered the study.
“…That day, it seems Min Ra-hyun went to see Kang In-oh.”
The two were also engaged due to their families’ arrangement. Moreover, it’s highly likely that Min Ra-hyun went to ask for help from Kang In-oh as he didn’t have much money left. However, this was just Secretary Park’s personal opinion.
Han Seung-jae didn’t like it when personal views were added to reports. He only wanted the facts as they were.
Secretary Park took a paper from his inner pocket and pushed it towards Han Seung-jae. As he unfolded the paper, a copy of a witness statement was revealed.
Accordingly, Secretary Park said:
“According to the witness’s statement, there were sounds of an argument, and three gunshots were heard. Two of them seemed to be aimed at Kang In-oh, and the last gunshot appears to have occurred when Min Ra-hyun pointed the gun at his own head.”
Only Min Ra-hyun’s fingerprints were found on the gun. While Secretary Park was reporting this series of events, Han Seung-jae just listened. He seemed deep in thought.
Secretary Park reported without adding any emotion or sympathy.
“Min Ra-hyun died instantly at the scene, and only Kang In-oh was taken to Haseon Hospital, but his condition is critical and they say he might not make it through today.”
Only after finishing the last words did Han Seung-jae raise his head and stand up. He handed the paper back to Secretary Park, who folded it and put it back in his inner pocket.
Han Seung-jae walked around the desk and murmured:
“Good work. But when you go there, you’ll need to mix in some lies.”
Because it would be troublesome for me if he collapses again. Han Seung-jae indifferently left the study. Secretary Park followed behind him.
Han Seung-jae opened the bedroom door and looked back. Secretary Park entered the open door and faced Seo I-Kyung, who was leaning against the headboard. He seemed to lack any strength.
Seo I-Kyung’s face was pale, and his lips were white and swollen. There was a new IV line in his wrist. It was clear he had been ill all night. Seeing this, Secretary Park quickly understood the meaning of Han Seung-jae’s words. So he refrained from saying anything shocking.
“When you were in the hospital, Min Ra-hyun said he would pack his suitcase and leave. Director Han told him to do so.”
Seo I-Kyung blinked. He consistently showed a look that didn’t doubt Secretary Park’s words at all. This was understandable, as there was only one reason Han Seung-jae kept Secretary Park by his side. He clearly trusted his words. So Seo I-Kyung also listened carefully to Secretary Park’s words.
“After that, it seems he went to see Dr. Kang In-oh, his marriage partner. There was a dispute between them, and because my number was in Min Ra-hyun’s phone, he called me.”
Compared to what he had said to Han Seung-jae in the study, this was extremely brief, monotonous, and lacking in detail. He was speaking concisely as if an unfortunate incident had occurred due to an argument with someone about to get married.
“I’ve told you everything exactly as it happened.”
Secretary Park spoke with a confident expression. Similarly, Seo I-Kyung looked at him and slowly turned his head.
Until then, Han Seung-jae had been sitting in the chair next to the bed. He didn’t interrupt or interfere with Secretary Park’s words at all.
But even if the story he just heard wasn’t true, how could Secretary Park say anything with a different meaning while Han Seung-jae was sitting right there? However, Seo I-Kyung wanted to fully believe Secretary Park’s words.
“It seems you don’t have any more questions, so I’ll be in the study.”
Secretary Park bowed slightly and turned around.
Seo I-Kyung turned his head to watch Secretary Park’s retreating back. He couldn’t think of anything else he wanted to ask him.
“It seems you can’t trust my words, but you trust Secretary Park’s?”
Seo I-Kyung’s head slowly turned to the side. Han Seung-jae pulled his upper body slightly closer. This brought him closer to Seo I-Kyung’s body. Seo I-Kyung looked at Han Seung-jae and murmured quietly:
“Secretary Park is…”
Han Seung-jae tilted his head slightly. His eyes, devoid of any emotion, seemed to be saying ‘go on, say it’.
Seo I-Kyung lowered his eyelids. Somehow, it was difficult to look directly into Han Seung-jae’s eyes.
Seo I-Kyung carefully uttered the words lingering on his tongue:
“He’s someone you trust, isn’t he?”
“……”
“That’s why I believe Secretary Park’s words too.”
Seo I-Kyung wanted to believe Secretary Park’s words.
The words that Han Seung-jae had said “go ahead” when Min Ra-hyun said he would leave still echoed in his ears. Han Seung-jae’s tone when saying those words lingered in his mind.
Did he say it indifferently? Did he say it coldly? Did he say it frigidly without any room for doubt?
Either way, Han Seung-jae didn’t keep Min Ra-hyun in this house.
Just for that, Seo I-Kyung felt as if the stone that had been weighing on his chest for a while was gradually fading away.
