I Possessed a Terminally Ill Omega – Episode 205
Inside the fast-moving car, Secretary Park took out his cell phone from his inner pocket.
Ring- It was a call from Chief Secretary Kang. Secretary Park observed Han Seung-jae’s thoughtful expression in the rearview mirror.
Han Seung-jae’s cold features were surrounded by a chilly aura. However, Secretary Park could sense that Han Seung-jae’s mood wasn’t unpleasant. In fact, compared to when they were heading to Haseon Hospital after hearing the doctor’s report, it seemed much improved. Since having lunch with Seo I-Kyung, Han Seung-jae’s expression had become more composed.
As Secretary Park put the phone to his ear, Chief Secretary Kang said:
[Where are you now? The CEO is looking for Director Han.]
“We’re on our way back from an external appointment. We should arrive at the office in about 30 minutes.”
[30 minutes? I’ll relay that message. Still, you should come as quickly as possible. You know the CEO doesn’t like waiting.]
After briefly ending the call with Chief Secretary Kang, Secretary Park turned around. He was about to open his mouth to relay the conversation when Han Seung-jae spoke impassively.
“I heard. I have ears too, you know.”
The car was quiet enough that Han Seung-jae couldn’t have missed Chief Secretary Kang’s words over the phone.
Secretary Park faced forward again and tucked his phone deep into his inner pocket. The timing wasn’t good. Until just now, Han Seung-jae’s expression hadn’t been bad. But that calm emotion seemed to have plummeted to the bottom in an instant.
The sedan pulled up in front of the Myeongjun Financial Group. Secretary Park quickly got out and moved into the building with Han Seung-jae. Throughout the elevator ride to the upper floors, he witnessed Han Seung-jae’s gaze becoming increasingly caustic.
“You’ve arrived.”
The employee at the director’s office door was standing, with an awkward expression and hands clasped in front.
“CEO Han is inside, waiting.”
Despite being told that Han Seung-jae wasn’t in the office, Han Yechan had stubbornly entered and taken a seat. Moreover, CEO Han Yechan was also Han Seung-jae’s father. So the employees couldn’t actively discourage him.
It was inevitable for the employees to be wary of both Han Seung-jae and Han Yechan.
Secretary Park knocked and opened the door. Han Yechan, sitting in the main seat of the sofa, turned his head. He was drinking tea from a cup provided by an employee. Chief Secretary Kang stood beside him. He checked the time as if to confirm.
It had taken exactly 30 minutes since the call with Secretary Park. However, Han Yechan’s perspective was different. To him, the waiting time felt long and tedious. It felt like over an hour had passed.
“You’re late.”
Han Yechan said this to Han Seung-jae as he entered. Han Seung-jae, as if he hadn’t heard, took off his suit jacket and handed it to Secretary Park.
Chief Secretary Kang, who had been standing next to Han Yechan maintaining the conversation, murmured as if to help:
“The CEO has been waiting for a long time.”
“Is that so?”
Han Seung-jae’s reply was extremely concise. He turned from looking at Secretary Park and unhesitatingly extended his long arm. Then he grabbed Chief Secretary Kang’s head and slammed it against the door.
“Seung-jae.”
Han Yechan frowned, lowering his teacup. Despite being called, Han Seung-jae said nothing. Only Chief Secretary Kang’s pained groans were heard loudly, as if his head might be crushed in Han Seung-jae’s grip.
“D-Director Han. Why are you doing this?”
“Think before you speak to me.”
Chief Secretary Kang’s eyes darted wildly as his forehead was pressed against the door. He tried to steady himself by placing both hands on the door, but the more he tried, the stronger Han Seung-jae’s force became.
“Did I make an appointment?”
“N-No, you didn’t.”
Chief Secretary Kang’s voice trembled finely. Han Seung-jae’s voice was so low that it sent chills down Chief Secretary Kang’s spine.
“Then what were you doing in an office without its owner?”
Although Han Seung-jae was speaking to Chief Secretary Kang, he was clearly asking his father, Han Yechan.
“I’m sorry. This won’t happen again.”
It’s all my fault. I should have contacted you in advance. Chief Secretary Kang, his head involuntarily pressed against the door, apologized several times before he was finally able to break free.
A long line had formed on Chief Secretary Kang’s forehead. He covered his reddened, painful forehead with his palm. As if on cue, Secretary Park opened the door to let him out.
“My, my. What a temper.”
Han Yechan clicked his tongue in reproach. Wonder who he takes after. However, he hadn’t budged from the sofa even when Chief Secretary Kang was in a crisis. For him, it was always clear what took priority and who was more important.
Han Seung-jae slowly turned his body and took a seat on the sofa. His dress shirt enveloping his broad shoulders and the platinum pin-fastened tie showed no signs of disarray. As he leaned back on the sofa, shadows formed on his vest.
“I wonder who I take after.”
Han Seung-jae revealed his twisted hostility towards his father.
“……”
Han Yechan’s mouth twitched. Yeon So-jung was elegant and notably taciturn. So despite her festering insides, she spent her days drinking without showing any outward signs. Therefore, it wasn’t hard to guess where Han Seung-jae’s temperament came from.
Thud, an employee entered through the door Chief Secretary Kang had left and placed a teacup in front of Han Seung-jae. Han Seung-jae didn’t particularly feel like drinking tea. He fixed a cold gaze on Han Yechan and asked:
“Why did you come?”
They weren’t the type to visit each other, come and go, exchange greetings amicably, and savor tea together. Not since before Seo I-Kyung became pregnant. But when Han Yechan heard from the doctor that Seo I-Kyung had been admitted to Haseon Hospital, he told Chief Secretary Kang to go and check on him under the guise of a hospital visit.
However, Chief Secretary Kang couldn’t enter. The guard standing in front of the hospital room couldn’t be persuaded by any words. He repeatedly said that without Han Seung-jae’s permission, entry was not allowed, coldly blocking the entrance.
Even Han Seung-jae’s mother, Yeon So-jung, sent the housekeeper Choi to check on Seo I-Kyung’s condition, but likewise, Housekeeper Choi couldn’t enter either.
Seo I-Kyung seemed to have thought that Seo Dong-hu might visit the hospital, but from the beginning, he had completely blocked anyone from entering the room.
However, Han Seung-jae knew that the doctor was reporting Seo I-Kyung’s condition to Han Yechan. Hadn’t he allowed it to happen that way?
And the perceptive doctor first asked and sought permission from Han Seung-jae before relaying information to Han Yechan. But unaware of this fact, Han Yechan said:
“I came because I was worried. Chief Secretary Kang went, but he said he was sleeping so he couldn’t see his face. Still, it’s a relief to hear that the baby in his womb is doing well.”
“You waited in a room without its owner to say that? I thought you already knew everything from the doctor.”
I don’t think there’s any need for me to say it too. Han Seung-jae dryly retorted to Han Yechan’s words. Deep wrinkles formed around Han Yechan’s eyes.
“Tell him to visit home when he gets better.”
“He hasn’t gotten better yet. Check for yourself. See if I’m lying.”
Wasn’t Seo I-Kyung still wearing a cast on his left hand? That much could be easily confirmed by asking the doctor through Chief Secretary Kang.
Finally, Han Yechan, looking displeased at having gained nothing, rose heavily. As if he had been waiting for this, Han Seung-jae stood up on his long legs. He moved to open the door himself for Han Yechan to leave.
Just as he was about to exit, Han Yechan suddenly seemed to remember something and opened his wrinkled lips.
“By the way, Chaeho was saying that Ra-hyun hasn’t returned home.”
Min Chae-ho had tried calling several times to confirm this fact. However, Chief Secretary Kang had relayed this information to Han Yechan as if it wasn’t a big deal.
“Well, that person is no longer of any concern to me.”
Han Yechan left through the door. As Han Seung-jae closed it, his gaze turned sharp.
