Haunted Duke’s Daughter - C121

S–It seems that you are thinking about it.
L–I guess so.
If this had been the same as before, I would have had to think about it a bit, but this will be no problem. My cheeks naturally relaxed.
“Lilia-sama, how are you?”
At the sound of Alisa’s voice, Lilia hurriedly hid her expression and shook her head, saying it was nothing.
S–By the way, Lilia. Where’s Ray?
L–Ah…….
I completely forgot about him. Even if I went to the library now, it was already late. Lilia thought for a moment and quickly gave up. Next time would be fine, she thought.
S–Well, yeah. That’s fine, I guess.
With a slight tug on her cheeks at the sound of Sakura’s voice, which seemed a little taken aback, Lilia told Alisa and Cynthia that she was heading to the cafeteria.
S–And with that, we will begin the meeting!
Sakura said, straightening up and extending her hand. Lilia nodded and turned on her heel.
“Good night.”
“Whoa! Wait a minute, Lilia! Wait!”
She clung to Lilia’s body, trying not to let her go. Lilia sighed and stopped, shaking her head. Sakura let go of Lilia with relief.
“What’s wrong with you all of a sudden? Do you have something to discuss?”
Today’s call is before the holiday, as scheduled. I was thinking that, since it was called a “meeting,” it must be something important to discuss about the future.
“No.”
“…………”
“…………”
“I’m leaving.”
“Wait, wait! Let’s just talk!”
Lilia sighed and nodded as if she had no choice. Sakura sighed in relief and walked to the cherry tree while Lilia followed suit.
At the base of the tree, there was something small and black. It emitted a strange light. It was a different kind of light from that of the spirits, a light that made her feel somewhat uneasy.
“What is that?”
“I had seen that once. I couldn’t ask her then, but she might be able to answer me now. Sakura did answer me.”
“Smartphone.”
“Smartphone……?”
“Yes.”
Sakura picked it up and showed it to Lilia. It was shaped like a thin board. The light emitted from one side of the board seemed to have letters or drawings on it.
“I can do a lot of things with it. If there is something I want to look up, I can do it with this.”
Sakura tapped the board several times then the characters and pictures on the board changed. I rolled my eyes at the unusual phenomenon while Sakura was laughing at the situation.
“What kind of magic is it?”
Sakura’s expression froze. When Lilia tilted her head, Sakura gave her a somewhat difficult look.
“That’s right. If I didn’t know any better, it would just look like magic.”
“It’s not?”
“….It’s a little hard to explain. Never mind.”
Sakura sits at the base of the tree and taps her hand next to herself. I guess she was telling me to sit here. I had no particular reason to object, so I sat down next to Sakura.
“That smartphone is the ability Sakura sometimes talks about, isn’t it?”
“Yes, it’s my angelic ability!”
“What else can you do?”
“It’s the most painful thing to go through…….! The rest is kind of a secret.”
“That’s too bad. So what made you suddenly decide to show me?”
Sakura stopped moving and looked up at the sky as if thinking for a moment. After waiting for a while, Sakura smiled faintly.
“I guess it’s to thank you for the other day.”
“Thank me? I don’t think I did anything.”
“Because it was a pleasure for me.”
Lilia had no idea. She thought she might have misunderstood something, but looking at Sakura’s smile, she felt like she shouldn’t ask any more questions. Lilia nodded and did not touch the subject again.
・・・・・
Lilia left the place and the world sank into darkness. Sakura let the darkness take over and let out a giggle.
“It’s going well.”
She then laughed as usual. But it didn’t last long, and Sakura’s expression twisted.
“Be a little skeptical…….Lilia…….”
Sadly, Sakura closes her eyes.
“I wish the promised day would never come.”
This is all I do these nights. I keep regretting it. I know I can’t go back, and it’s pointless to feel sorry, but I spend long hours in the darkness with nothing but regrets.
Drifting in the darkness, Sakura started humming a tune to distract herself.
・・・・・
S–Let’s be merry and bright today!
“Shut up!”
S–Uh-hyah!
Lilia yelled at the loud noise that echoed in her sleepy head, and Sakura apologized.
As I stood up, still a little irritated, my eyes met those of Alisa, who was looking at me with a pale expression.
“I’m sorry!”
Alisa bows her head. I wondered for a moment what was wrong, and then it quickly occurred to me. It was the yelling I had done earlier. I was not angry at Alisa, but she must have misunderstood because Alisa was the only one here. Remembering that I was really yelling at her, I reflected on the bad thing I had done.
S–Reflection is important.
L–………….
S–I’m sorry……..
Lilia gave a small sigh at the sound of Sakura’s depressed voice.
