Chapter 3: A Kind of Warmth
Suffering;
For the genius, it’s a stepping stone,
For the weak, it’s a bottomless abyss.
Things that seem effortless for others are often the result of countless trials and tribulations. You say it’s easy? Perhaps some are born with natural talent, but with perseverance, anyone can create a wonderful life.
In the race between the tortoise and the hare, the winner isn’t determined by speed, but by unwavering determination.
When you fall, when you stumble, you long for a helping hand. But whether someone lifts you or not, you ultimately must rely on your own strength to rise again.
Waiting for success isn’t about sitting idly by. It’s about giving your all, putting in every ounce of effort, and then leaving the rest to fate.
What is meant for you will eventually find its way. What isn’t yours, even if you grasp it, will quickly slip through your fingers.
Nothing I possess truly belongs to me. I am merely passing through this world, borrowing a body that I will eventually return.
So why be sad? Why be upset? What if you gain it? What if you don’t?
True goodness and beauty in life are found in a person’s character when they are free from desire. Only when one is not burdened by worldly concerns can they truly be open-minded.
Whether you live happily or not, whether you live sadly or not, if you’re not happy for a second, you have one less second of happiness.
Though happiness is fleeting, we still long for it. Though we all end up in the grave, we still hope to live joyfully.
Live one second, and life is one second shorter.
Change your perspective, live one second longer with each breath.
When we’re young, we live with addition, always wanting more of this and that.
But as we age, we live with subtraction, each day one less than the last. We long for every day to be meaningful.
How can life be meaningful every minute, every second? We still waste so much time, feeling lost and aimless.
Cherish time, cherish the present, cherish the people before you. Don’t wait until they’re gone to regret it.
What makes a life meaningful? Is it simply finding happiness? Perhaps suffering, too, can bring us meaning.
How many tears of sorrow? How many tears of joy? The ancients advised us not to be swayed by external circumstances, so that life wouldn’t be so tiring and exhausting.
We often hear the saying, “What you can’t have is the best.”
We tend to overlook what we already possess, only feeling regret and remorse when it’s lost. People are indeed stubborn, refusing to shed a tear until they see the coffin.
Oh! Why do we even say, “What you can’t have is the best?” What’s so good about something unattainable? It’s like trying to fly by standing on tiptoe, only to realize you lack wings and that flying was merely a dream.
Guoguo: How are you today?
Meng Jinfei: Very good, because I have you in my heart.
Guoguo: I’m not good, not good at all. I have a cold and a fever.
Meng Jinfei: Drink more hot water.
Guoguo: You boys are so careless. All you can say is “drink hot water.”
Meng Jinfei: Then let me give you the warmth of my love! So you won’t be cold anymore.
Guoguo: As if it were real. I’ll get warm just by you moving your lips? Please.
Meng Jinfei: I bought you some heat packs. They’re downstairs at your place.
Guoguo: Haha, you’re downstairs at my place?
Meng Jinfei: Come down and get them.
Guoguo: Alright! Alright!
