Dungeon Exploration with Absolute Accuracy ~ Level Up by Shooting Arrows from a Safe Zone ~ - Chapter 123
Mid-Boss Assassin Butterfly
Afterward, thanks to Silphy’s search and scouting, my [Translucent Lock], and Dine’s healing, we explored the Powder Dungeon smoothly.
Silphy would scout the surroundings while searching for Powder Butterflies, and after reporting to me, I’d take them down one-sidedly with [Translucent Lock].
And then, from time to time, when the Powder Butterfly would launch a surprise attack from behind a tree visible only to me, Dine would block its main attack method—a slicing wind created by flapping its wings vigorously—as we proceeded forward.
No damage at all! What a wonderful sound that is!
If things had gone as they usually do, it probably wouldn’t have gone so well.
Even if I didn’t take a direct hit, I might have had a scratch or two.
“…Well, we haven’t found anything useful so far, though.”
I mutter as I stand before the open door in front of me.
Well, getting this far without taking any damage is good… No, I really do think it’s great.
If I’m being greedy, I would have liked to find some clues about Silphy’s friends.
“Indeed…”
“Maybe there’s only a boss room, like when we found Dine?”
“No, when we found Silphy, it wasn’t in a boss room or anything like that.”
“Oh, that’s right…”
“But to find nothing here as well, just like in the Koyama Dungeon… Was it like this when you two saved me?”
Dine asks us, looking a bit tired.
“”Yes.””
Both Silphy and I answer in unison.
There really was nothing until we reached the boss room.
“So, you answered immediately…”
“Yeah. But, since we found Dine in the first dungeon we explored together, it wasn’t so bad.”
“That’s true. If we hadn’t found Dine there, we wouldn’t have had anything to show for it.”
Well, we’re on the verge of having nothing to show for it this time too!
“For now, let’s hope we find some clue in this mid-boss room.”
We’re currently in front of the mid-boss room on the twentieth floor.
There’s been nothing so far. At least let there be some clue in the mid-boss room…!
“Alright! Let’s go!”
“Yeah!”
“Yes!”
With that, we pass through the door and enter the mid-boss room.
As soon as we enter the mid-boss room, we hear the familiar sound of the door closing behind us, and eventually, it closes completely.
In the meantime, I take in the mid-boss room’s surroundings.
If I had to describe it in one word, the mid-boss room is a “forest.”
The trees growing from the ground are of various types, and while walls are limiting the room’s size, the ceiling is high, and a fake sun provides adequate light.
The room is designed almost the same as the floors we’ve explored in the Powder Dungeon so far.
And blending into that, there’s the mid-boss.
“Wow~. Just by looking, I can’t tell where the monster is this time either.”
“Indeed… It’s hard to see the monsters here with such poor visibility…”
“Hm? Oh, don’t worry about that.”
I wasn’t planning to search normally, anyway.
“Huh? Ah! Am I supposed to use the wind to search again?”
“Nope, wrong.”
Silphy raises her hand cheerfully and asks, but that’s not the plan.
“Eh~! It’s not!?”
“Nope, it’s not.”
“…Could it be that you’re going to use that [Translucent Lock] you’ve been using?”
“Oh, Dine, correct.”
The mid-boss of the Powder Dungeon is called the Assassin Butterfly—a monster that looks like a larger, fully black Powder Butterfly.
Like the Powder Butterfly, it spreads scales that cause various status ailments as it moves.
But of course, it’s not exactly the same as the Powder Butterfly.
The difference between it and the Powder Butterfly is… it can become invisible.
Only that? You might think, but becoming invisible is really troublesome.
Just like with my [Magic Arrow], being invisible alone is strong.
I know better than anyone how much of a threat being invisible can be.
If an invisible Assassin Butterfly were to attack in this forested environment… it would be a huge pain.
Well, normally, that is.
“Because of that, I thought I’d test how well [Translucent Lock] works in this space.”
“That makes sense~”
“Indeed, it does.”
“Besides, given the nature of this boss room and the Assassin Butterfly, staying here for a long time is dangerous. Let’s finish this quickly.”
Just like the Powder Butterfly, the Assassin Butterfly spreads scales.
But unlike the open floors we’ve encountered so far, this is a sealed boss room, and the scales are spread by the Assassin Butterfly’s giant body.
Soon enough, the entire room will be filled with the scales the Assassin Butterfly scatters.
I’ve seen it in a PouTube video, and it was really something.
Every part of the screen that the camera could Lock was completely covered in the yellow scales, with no escape from them.
If possible, I’d like to defeat it before it gets to that state…
“Alright, let’s get started. Ah, it might be difficult, but try to breathe as little as possible.”
While we were talking, the room filled up with scales, and the view turned quite yellow.
“Roger that~”
“Understood.”
“Yeah, thanks. …Alright, let’s begin. [Translucent Lock].”
