Devouring Angels with Demon’s Sword - Chapter 16
It’s been a week since I unexpectedly became a magic swordsman.
That said, nothing particularly noteworthy has happened during that time.
I’ve just been going about my usual routine—going to school and working at my part-time job—with the addition of practicing with the magic sword and my abilities. Other than doing some research here and there, it’s been a remarkably peaceful routine.
Thanks to that, I’ve become somewhat familiar with matters concerning the Magic Swordsman Association, and I’ve also gotten much better at handling my powers. I was never one to get too involved with others to begin with, so no one seems to have grown suspicious of me.
As for the *Void Sword*, the assistant manager mentioned that they’ve already found a buyer. …I haven’t asked whether the transaction is legal or not, but I assume it’s fine.
I’m expecting the money to come in by next weekend. And apparently, my share will be exchanged for something like a winning lottery ticket of about the same value. No unnecessary taxes, and it’ll be easy to explain to my sister. Talk about excellent after-sales service.
All in all, things are going incredibly smoothly.
So far, everything has been going really well.
…
Yes, it *was* going really well.
—
By the time night had fully fallen, I finished my shift as usual.
However, instead of heading straight home, I decided to stop by the rooftop of the school.
—
“Fuuuuuuuuu…”
—
Tonight, my sister is working a night shift, so I have the house to myself. That means I can spend as much time as I want practicing. Since there’s no way I can swing a magic sword around in our apartment, I’ve been using the school rooftop as my temporary training ground.
—
“Ha!”
—
I picked up a fist-sized rock I’d found earlier and threw it with all the strength I could muster, enhanced by my physical augmentation ability.
Before it could hit the fence about ten meters away, I circled around and intercepted it.
—
“Seeyah!”
—
I swung the sword vertically once, then horizontally once, cutting the rock into four equal pieces, which fell to the ground at my feet.
—
“Alright, I’m getting there.”
—
Though my body weighs less than seventy kilograms, I now possess inhuman strength, enough to strangle a grizzly bear with one hand. However, the power is so extreme that, if I lose even the slightest bit of balance, I end up being the one getting tossed around. It’s a highly unstable ability.
But by creating specific “forms” to move in, I figured out a method to control it. After countless repetitions to embed those movements into my muscle memory, I think I’ve finally got the hang of it.
It’s about time I move on to developing forms that incorporate *Magic Sword Arts*.
—
“I need to find a new training spot.”
—
Even on the rooftop, there’s no way I can go around unleashing *Flying Slash Spada* inside the school building. As I mentally scanned through a map of the area, I started thinking about where I could find a more suitable place.
And then, suddenly—I felt a strange sensation crawl down my spine.
—
“…?”
—
I quickly turned and leapt lightly onto the fence, which was nearly twice my height. Following the tingling sensation running down my back, I scanned my surroundings, eventually locking my gaze on a specific point.
—
“This feeling… no way…”
—
At first, it was vague, but soon I was certain.
There’s no doubt about it.
—
“A Detached Cell…?”
