Crossing To The Primitive With A Game Panel - Chapter 96
Someone was by his side, and Lu Yu slept soundly.
It wasn’t a serious illness to begin with, just a slight fever. After relaxing and drinking some medicinal soup, Lu Yu woke up feeling a bit weak but overall comfortable and refreshed.
Lu Yu turned his head.
The tall man sat leaning against the head of the bed, eyes closed, with one arm propped up above Lu Yu’s head in a protective posture.
Lu Yu’s eyes curved.
Tai Lie slowly opened his eyes and lowered his head. “Awake?”
Lu Yu pretended to press down on the corner of his mouth. “What are you doing here?”
Tai Lie raised an eyebrow slightly. “You don’t know when I came?”
Lu Yu turned his eyes away. “I don’t know.”
Tai Lie responded with a faint “Hmm.”
Lu Yu shifted his gaze back and stared. “What’s with the ‘hmm’?”
A hint of tenderness and indulgence appeared in Tai Lie’s eyes.
Lu Yu couldn’t hold it in and chuckled softly.
“Do you want some water?” Tai Lie retracted his arm.
Lu Yu’s throat was parched, but he still maintained his composure. “Okay.”
Tai Lie got off the bed and poured a glass of water, also bringing two sweet fruits. In fact, Lu Yu had plenty of these in his ring, but for some reason, he felt like the ones Tai Lie brought seemed more to his taste.
Supporting himself, Lu Yu sat up from the bed, feeling refreshed after eating and drinking, replenishing some energy.
There was something Lu Yu had been pondering all along, and now he had to ask, “Where have you been these past few nights?”
Tai Lie paused. “Nowhere, just resting in the nearby stone house.”
Lu Yu squinted, unfriendly. “Then why didn’t you enter the dream?”
Tai Lie looked at him, his eyes deep. “When we quarrel, I can’t sleep well.”
“Cough, cough.” Lu Yu choked on his saliva and his face flushed slightly.
It seemed like there wasn’t a problem. He hadn’t been sleeping well these past few days either, and Tai Lie naturally had a light sleep and high alertness. It wasn’t strange for him to be like this…
All of Lu Yu’s doubts vanished in an instant.
He pinched a fruit he hadn’t finished eating in his hand and whispered softly, “Actually, I haven’t been sleeping well these past few days.”
Lu Yu, poor in knowledge about relationships, often overthought things and felt at a loss when faced with disagreements between them. He felt he wasn’t wrong, yet he also felt he should stand on Tai Lie’s side.
Considering the differences in their thoughts spanning thousands of years, he was afraid of hurting their relationship and sometimes doubted their feelings for each other, making himself uncomfortable.
“I know,” Tai Lie said.
Lu Yu raised his head, his gaze clear. “I think, in a relationship, we should express all our thoughts. Differences are inevitable, and only through good communication can we resolve problems. What do you think?”
Although Tai Lie had lowered his head before, apologized, and said he would listen to Lu Yu, Lu Yu didn’t think Tai Lie should bear everything because of that.
Tai Lie’s thin lips parted slightly. “Okay.”
Lu Yu pretended to be serious. “About what we discussed that day…”
“If you don’t want to, I won’t force you,” Tai Lie said.
Lu Yu made a sound of acknowledgment, vaguely saying, “It’s not that I don’t want to…”
Lu Yu felt his body temperature rising again.
His eyes wandered, afraid to look at the person, and his voice was weak. “You, you’re too good… Asking for too much…”
And he was really just an ordinary person, unable to bear it…
“I—” Tai Lie had just started to speak when Lu Yu interrupted him anxiously, his face blushing.
“And! Time doesn’t allow it!”
Lu Yu attempted to use a serious expression to tell Tai Lie that this was the real reason. “We have a lot of things to do. How can we indulge ourselves?”
“As you wish,” Tai Lie said.
Lu Yu was about to continue coaxing him gently, but when he heard this, he froze.
Tai Lie looked at him, amused by his surprised expression, and smiled faintly, wiping away a drop of water at the corner of his lips with the pad of his thumb.
“Everything as you wish.”
—
Lu Yu was grilling meat, still thinking about what Tai Lie had said to him in the afternoon, feeling quite puzzled.
How come this “horny” guy was so easily swayed this time? He had clearly put such great importance on doing that thing before.
Lu Yu had an intuition that something was off, but he couldn’t think of a reason.
“Witch, is the meat ready?” Xia Hua leaned over, sniffing eagerly at the fragrant golden chunks of meat emanating from the grill.
“Oh, yeah.” Lu Yu snapped out of his thoughts, turned the meat over, and said, “It’s ready.”
Lu Yu took the meat off the grill and distributed it to everyone.
Er Dai walked over, feeling embarrassed as he accepted the meat from Lu Yu, then happily ran to the side like a little dog with a cherished bone, sitting down to eat.
Lu Yu smiled.
Er Dai was someone he had brought here, and after living here for some time, Er Dai had already integrated into the community.
Since that was the case, Lu Yu couldn’t favor one person over another, so he planned to let Er Dai enter the dream training ground to learn some skills as well. Since they needed more hands, of course, it was up to Er Dai to decide what to learn.
Ming Shan sat down next to Er Dai with his own food. Seeing the black kid buried in his meal, he nudged his arm and grinned, “Hey, little black, what have you been up to these days?”
He had been assigned to the hunting team for the past few days, accumulating rewards by going out every day and hadn’t had time to see how this black kid was doing in the valley.
Ming Shan felt that since Witch had asked him to bring Er Dai over, maybe Witch meant for him to pay more attention to Er Dai.
Er Dai struggled to pull his head out of the delicious food and greeted Ming Shan with a dazed expression. “Hello.”
Ming Shan chuckled. “Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten my name?”
Er Dai quickly shook his head. “No, no, your name is Ming Shan.”
Ming Shan neither confirmed nor denied it, instead asking again, “How have you been over there?”
Er Dai revealed a silly smile. “Everyone is nice. They helped me build a wooden house and gave me lots of clothes.”
“That’s good.” Ming Shan paused. “By the way, do you know why Witch called you over?”
Er Dai innocently shook his head.
“Do you know what entering the dream is? Do you know about the training ground?”
Er Dai hesitated for a moment before nodding. “Uncle Fang mentioned it to me, but I didn’t understand…”
Ming Shan impatiently knocked on his head, patiently explaining it to him with the idea of reducing Witch’s workload.
Er Dai opened his mouth in disbelief.
Ming Shan proudly straightened his back. “Our Witch is amazing!”
Er Dai naturally knew how amazing Lu Yu was. On the second day he came, he witnessed such a large stone monument being created out of nothing. But he didn’t expect Lu Yu to teach people so many skills, even doing it in their dreams!
After finishing his food, Er Dai approached Lu Yu with a mixture of nervousness and excitement.
Lu Yu smiled. “Ming Shan has told you everything, right? Don’t worry, it’ll be over soon, and you don’t have to do anything. Just fall asleep at night, and I’ll come find you.”
Er Dai nodded.
Lu Yu opened the game panel and aimed the blue halo at Er Dai.
Just as he was about to take a picture of Er Dai’s avatar, a line of text suddenly appeared on the panel.
【Modified Species (Failed)】
These glaring words revealed Er Dai’s identity.
A storm surged in Lu Yu’s heart.
Modified species?! How could Er Dai be a modified species??? And what does that “(Failed)” mean?!
Lu Yu quickly recalled the last time he saw these words, it was during the Great Drift, when people from the three major tribes came to forcefully buy his crabs. He searched through those people…
Could it be that Er Dai is from one of the three major tribes?
In an instant, countless thoughts flooded Lu Yu’s mind.
Seeing him staring blankly without speaking, Er Dai couldn’t help but reach out and wave his hand in front of him, “Witch, what’s wrong with you?”
Lu Yu breathed out and forced a smile, “Nothing, Er Dai, before I let you enter the training ground, can I ask you some questions?”
Er Dai hesitated for a moment, then said without hesitation, “Of course! Witch, you can ask me anything!”
“Okay.” Lu Yu nodded and arranged, “Then come to my stone house tonight, the one behind the meeting hall, and you can rest here tonight, okay?”
“Okay, okay!” Er Dai replied happily.
Although he got along well with the people in the valley, in his heart, naturally, he felt closer to Lu Yu. Being able to stay here and be closer to Lu Yu, he was willing to do anything.
After settling Er Dai, Lu Yu turned around and went to find Tai Lie.
Lu Yu had previously confided in Tai Lie about his background, and later he slowly told him some things about the panel. Naturally, he didn’t hide anything about the modified species from the three major tribes.
Lu Yu expressed his doubts, “Tai Lie, what do you think Er Dai is? I’ve only seen this kind of mark on people from the three major tribes. Could he be a spy sent by the three major tribes to monitor us?”
As soon as he said this, he immediately denied this speculation, “But this doesn’t make sense either. Er Dai was randomly captured by Cha Ze in the Green Forest land. How could he coincidentally be a spy from the three major tribes?”
Moreover, Lu Yu didn’t believe that Er Dai was that kind of person. He didn’t believe that Er Dai could act so well.
Tai Lie frowned, “Did you call him over?”
Lu Yu nodded, “I thought about it. I’m planning to have an open and honest conversation with him. Even if he is, knowing that we’ve seen through his identity, he will definitely reveal himself. If not, we can still ask what’s going on.”
Tai Lie said in a deep voice, “In that case, let’s wait for him to come before asking. I believe that symbol wouldn’t appear on him for no reason. He might deceive you, but your ability won’t deceive you.”
Lu Yu had to admit that Tai Lie was right. The fact that Er Dai was a special species couldn’t be denied, and Er Dai had to explain it.
When the sky was completely dark, Er Dai walked to Lu Yu’s stone house and knocked on the door obediently, “Witch, I’m here!”
Lu Yu opened the door.
Originally, he wanted to ask questions seriously, but when he saw those eyes shining particularly brightly in the darkness, his heart softened again, and he smiled, “Come in.”
“Ah!”
Er Dai rushed in, but before he could see the surroundings clearly, he saw Tai Lie sitting at the wooden table.
For some reason, the King, who was already serious, looked even scarier today.
Er Dai trembled, lowered his head, and shrank like a little chicken. He didn’t dare to move, let alone look around.
“King, h-hello,” Er Dai weakly greeted.
Tai Lie made a noncommittal sound.
Lu Yu closed the door, walked over, comforted Er Dai, and led him to sit on a wooden stool.
To be honest, in just this short time, Lu Yu really didn’t think Er Dai was a spy. There wouldn’t be such a timid spy. Otherwise, his acting skills could win him an Oscar.
Lu Yu handed him a glass of water and went straight to the point, “Er Dai, the reason I asked you to come tonight is to ask you some very important questions.”
