Contract Marriage with Memory Loss on Top - Chapter 19
He had no memory after being dragged to the warehouse. He struggled meaninglessly and seemed to have hit his head somewhere incorrectly, so he must have fainted.
He didn’t know how much time had passed, but he could tell at once that the place he opened his eyes to was not a hospital. He knew they weren’t kind enough to take him to the hospital, but he didn’t expect them to dump a person in the corner of the office. At least he should be thankful that he wasn’t thrown into the warehouse. Yeon-woo let out a despairing sigh.
Even with his eyes open, it didn’t seem like they were open. Every time he blinked his eyelids, his vision was blurry and shaking. The ceiling swayed like waves, making him feel seasick. He didn’t know why his neck stung so much. When he fumbled and touched his neck with his limp hand, he finally remembered something.
‘I think my neck was strangled.’
Yeon-woo didn’t stop resisting even after being dragged to the warehouse. It was because he thought it was already a mess. He tried to leave as much evidence of assault as possible and somehow file a complaint. Seeing that they were thinking of raising the interest rate, they didn’t seem like the type to let him go. Since it had come to this, he wanted to at least give them a taste of their own medicine.
It should have left bruises to this extent. His neck was so swollen that it was difficult to even swallow his saliva. Yeon-woo, who had been checking his condition for a while, narrowed his eyes at the pain rising from his wrist. It seemed his wrist was sprained, as a tingling sensation rose.
‘It’s okay, I can endure it.’
Compared to being dragged to the warehouse, he was fine, so he gritted his teeth and swallowed his groans. Yeon-woo, who had his eyelids closed due to dizziness, widened his eyes at the scream tearing through his eardrums.
– Beeeeep-. Aaaaaargh…! Beep-. …fuck!
‘What’s that sound…?’
He wanted to raise his lying body right away and look around, but his body was too heavy. All he could do was turn his head in the direction of the sound. However, with his blurry vision, it was difficult to even distinguish objects.
One thing was certain: the person screaming sounded like the team leader. Even though there was strong tinnitus and the sound was muffled halfway through, he wasn’t to the point of not being able to catch the team leader’s voice.
Come to think of it, the atmosphere inside the office was strange.
‘I can’t see ahead…’
Not only was his vision shaking, but a large desk was blocking his view, making it even more difficult to assess the situation. Yeon-woo dragged his body as if crawling to move forward.
‘What’s this…?’
People in suits were gathered in one place. The overlapping afterimages, from one to two to three, were interfering with Yeon-woo’s judgment, but one thing was certain: they were not the loan sharks’ subordinates.
The atmosphere was unusual. The agitated air settled over Yeon-woo’s body. Suppressing the urge to dry heave, Yeon-woo slowly raised his upper body and leaned against the wall to prevent his body from falling backwards.
Somehow, he succeeded in sitting up. His shaking vision was also returning to normal as time passed. The same went for the tinnitus that was mixed with the screams. As his field of vision rose, the parts that were hidden by furniture gradually became visible.
That’s when it started. Yeon-woo’s heart began to beat rapidly.
‘Hyung…?’
Kwon Ki-won was there. It wasn’t a mistake. What was captured in his clear vision was his husband, Kwon Ki-won. Why was he here? His descending eyes stopped at Ki-won’s thigh area. The hand attached to the side of his thigh was bright red. It looked as if it was soaked in blood.
Yeon-woo’s eyes widened. It was surprising enough that he was here, but seeing him looking injured, he couldn’t just stay still. His sunken heart hit Yeon-woo’s chest countless times. Thump, thump, thump. The loudly resounding heartbeat was enough to make him feel dizzy.
“Ugh…”
He tried to get up right away, but only a small groan escaped through his teeth. Kwon Ki-won was bleeding. Then what was the team leader’s scream? He desperately wanted to run to him right now, but his body wasn’t listening, making him frustrated.
It was confusing. Yeon-woo barely managed to raise his body halfway. Even so, it was a crouching position with his buttocks slightly lifted, but his field of vision was much higher, making it easier to assess the situation.
As the furniture disappeared from his sight, the surrounding scene was soon starkly revealed. A person was collapsed on the table. Even with his face turned the other way, he could recognize who it was by the attire. It was the team leader.
It was an incomprehensible sight. Why was the team leader sprawled there? Yeon-woo frowned while holding his throbbing temple. The headache was so severe that it was difficult to think quickly.
‘…Blood?’
There was blood all around the team leader. The table was pooled with blood, and blood streaks dripping down could be seen. Yeon-woo, who had been blinking for a while, felt a chill run down his spine.
‘What is this? What on earth happened?’
He didn’t know what had happened after he fainted, but he knew that something big had occurred. Yeon-woo covered his mouth to prevent a scream from bursting out.
Yeon-woo’s eyes turned towards Kwon Ki-won again. He noticed parts that he had missed while in a dazed state. It wasn’t just his hands that were stained with blood. Although it was unclear due to the dark color, his shirt and vest also seemed to be stained with blood.
‘Could it be that hyung… Hyung did that?’
Yeon-woo’s head shook from side to side. He couldn’t think of a reason why Kwon Ki-won would do that to the team leader.
But one thing was certain.
Kwon Ki-won had found out everything. He didn’t know how he had discovered the loans, but the important thing was that he was here right now. Yeon-woo’s fingertips trembled.
‘No. Hyung, hyung… He wouldn’t do such a thing.’
The scene of the team leader bleeding filled his mind. He hoped that it wasn’t Ki-won who had made the team leader like that. He couldn’t even imagine the kind Kwon Ki-won, the warmest Kwon Ki-won, harming others. That couldn’t be. His muscles stiffened from the tension, making it impossible to move.
‘It wasn’t just hyung who was next to the team leader.’
Trying to hold onto his sanity, Yeon-woo turned his eyes towards the team leader again. Unfamiliar men were wandering around the team leader. They were examining the team leader, who was either unconscious or dead.
Eventually, Kwon Ki-won moved. Judging by his turning, it seemed he was trying to leave the scene. He didn’t want to face him in a state where he couldn’t suppress his confused emotions. Just as he made up his mind to quietly stay and go out later.
“…Hic.”
Yeon-woo’s eyes met Kwon Ki-won’s. It seemed that when a person was too surprised, they started hiccuping first. Even though he was covering his mouth, hiccup sounds like “hic, hic! hic!” flowed out.
A crack appeared on Kwon Ki-won’s calm-looking face. At the same time, Kwon Ki-won glanced at the men carrying the team leader. Following his gaze, Yeon-woo couldn’t hide his surprise once again.
“…Gasp!”
The team leader’s face was unrecognizable, soaked in blood. It seemed he was injured in the head area. Even at a glance, he looked in a dangerous state. Yeon-woo, who unintentionally swallowed the breath he was about to let out, burst into a dry cough.
“Why are you here?”
Kwon Ki-won narrowed the distance with Yeon-woo. At the same time, Yeon-woo’s body began to tremble. He didn’t need to tremble, Kwon Ki-won was just Kwon Ki-won. He repeated it several times, but his body didn’t listen.
“Why are you… here, hyung…?”
Due to the effects of his neck being strangled, his voice cracked pathetically. As Yeon-woo grabbed his neck again and coughed in pain, Kwon Ki-won, who narrowed his brows, lifted Yeon-woo up.
It was good to stand upright with his help, but with no strength in his legs, he swayed as if he would fall soon.
“What happened to your neck?”
Kwon Ki-won, who firmly grabbed Yeon-woo’s shoulders and pushed him against the wall, asked in a low tone. Suppressed anger was melted in his words. When the startled Yeon-woo couldn’t open his mouth right away, Kwon Ki-won grabbed Yeon-woo’s chin and gently lifted it. Maybe he was worried it would hurt, so he didn’t put strength in his fingertips.
“Hyung, wait… wait a moment, ugh…!”
But his neck was already very swollen. Even if Ki-won controlled his strength, the stimulation applied to the injured area was intense. Even though Yeon-woo was expressing pain, Ki-won persistently acted as if he couldn’t hear it.
“Ugh, it hurts… Please let go of this…!”
He only intended to remove Ki-won’s hand, but contrary to his intention, he ended up firmly pushing the man away. Silence flowed for a moment. Just as Yeon-woo was about to open his mouth to let him know that wasn’t his intention, in case he misunderstood.
Yeon-woo fumbled and stroked the part where Ki-won’s hand had touched. His neck and shoulders were damp. Yeon-woo looked down at his fingertips stained with bright red blood, unable to hide his agitation.
“Blood…?”
Yeon-woo’s eyes moved to Ki-won’s feet. The blood was not only on his body but also dripping onto the floor.
It was as if someone had poured white paint into his mind. Yeon-woo looked down at the office floor once more. It wasn’t a mistake. The moment something dripped from Kwon Ki-won’s fingertips, a red circle was drawn on the floor.
“…Did you just push me away?”
It was when Yeon-woo grabbed his wrist with a pale face. Kwon Ki-won recited in a hurt tone. Yeon-woo, who quickly raised his head, frowned.
“Is that the problem right now? What happened to your hand? Why are you injured like this!”
Despite the pain in his neck, Yeon-woo raised his voice and asked. The man’s palm that he examined was torn lengthwise. Even at a glance, it was a deep wound that needed stitches, but Kwon Ki-won was not considering his own condition.
‘What is this?’
Something was shining from deep within the wound. It took some time to figure it out because the surging blood was interfering. Inside the wound that he looked at with narrowed eyes, there was glass.
“What should I do about this…? Doesn’t it hurt? No, of course it would hurt…! It looks like a severe injury, so why are you like this? Huh?”
Yeon-woo, who clasped the man’s hand, trembled. His injury was at most a bruise, so it would heal quickly with just applying ointment. But Kwon Ki-won was different. Who on earth did such a cruel thing? The glass was deeply embedded, so it was clear that it would be agonizing to remove. Yeon-woo swallowed his welling tears and confronted Kwon Ki-won.
“Did the team leader do this to you?”
The moisture that had been wetting his large eyes fell drop by drop along his cheeks. Just like how he had hit him. Or just like how he had his subordinates torment him. Tears came out at the thought that the team leader had tormented Ki-won using such malicious methods.
He didn’t want to cause him trouble, but it was all messed up. Yeon-woo, whose insides were greatly upset, repeatedly shed large tears. He had long forgotten about his own neck pain.
