Are you the devil in the labyrinth? - C1 - prologue
Long ago, there was a great war between humans and the various non-human races. The reason for the conflict was simple. Humans wanted to dominate the non-humans, and the non-humans fought to resist.
Humans, led by the hero known as the “Champion,” relentlessly killed the non-humans, sparing neither children nor women. Every day, stories of human victories in the war spread throughout the world.
The Champion in the war boasted overwhelming power, and with such strength, it seemed that the conflict would end quickly in humanity’s favor. However, at some point, the war took a turn and stretched on for much longer.
The non-human races, which had been scattered and divided, began to unite.
The Elves and Dwarves, who had always been in conflict, joined forces.
The Goblins and Orcs, who had always been looked down upon as inferior, combined their strength.
The Trolls and Ogres, who had never cared about the world, sensed danger and began to participate in the war.
Many other races also joined in. Even beast-like non-humans who had lived quietly in the wilderness, and Kobolds who had lived secretly in the underground tunnels, emerged and began fighting against the humans.
Humans began to feel the strain. Victories in the war became less frequent, and over time, human victories grew even rarer.
Eventually, after being pushed back by so many races, humans lost the war. They lost most of the lands they had once controlled and started fleeing from the non-humans.
Their last refuge was not on the surface, but deep underground in a labyrinth.
This was the final stand of the humans, who had turned all the other races into enemies. The non-humans, determined to track down the humans hiding in the labyrinth, began to train adventurers, who were sent into the labyrinth to hunt the humans.
But the humans’ resistance was tenacious. Even after hundreds of years, the adventurers still continue to explore the labyrinth to kill the humans, who are expanding within it.
Although humans are now hiding in the labyrinth after being driven out by the non-human alliance, they are still a force to be reckoned with. They lost the blessings of the earth and no longer know the beauty of the sun. After hundreds of years, they have forgotten how beautiful the night sky is.
Once, they boasted of being a race favored by the gods, but now they are merely a race living in the dark underground.
However, that does not mean they should be underestimated. They still possess strength, and who knows what they will do in their attempt to reclaim their land. We must always be cautious.
Especially with the humans known as “Players” who have appeared recently…
