I Became The Academy’s Pure Love Dark Knight - Chapter 20
Chapter 20 – Misunderstanding and Understanding Are One Letter Apart.
—–CROW—–
Maria’s lecture ended, and the three of them gathered in the cathedral. The Glass Knight, Nex, and Chartinese.
“Phine, even so, bringing an unknown spirit here was a mistake.”
“..Sister Chart, mean.”
“Drake’s disciple? You didn’t know that before?”
The purple-haired man, having dug up information about Licht, questioned her.
“Didn’t know..?”
“You rejected that old man too, Phine.”
Reading the magically scribbled parchment, he racked his brains again.
Inside the paper, Licht’s identity was briefly written, and a seal resembling a dragon split in half shone, confirming his status as a disciple of the Ten Swords.
“Right.”
“Then at least it means he’s not from the Hero’s Church, right?”
Phine nodded slightly. Seeing that, the black-haired nun was relieved.
“..Blackie, was scared.”
“Your Highness.. Did you name the spirit?”
“Yes.”
“What kind of naming sense is that? Phine?”
“It’s Junior Licht’s spirit. Is that okay for a spirit?”
At those words, the white ears inside the helmet drooped slightly.
“Disappearing, don’t like.”
It was because she remembered that the spirit that had been in her arms just a moment ago was gone.
She was wondering if there was any way to get it back.
“Chart. The wolf spirit talked to my sparrow.. It was fine.”
“Blackie.”
“Yeah, what Blackie said was… protect, right?”
“What..?”
Nex spoke to Chartinese in a puzzled tone. The Glass Knight also tilted her head.
“So, Chart. What you’re worried about won’t happen. It’s all good if it’s good.”
“Nex, I’m curious, are all spirits like that..?”
“They’re not one-dimensional beings, but they definitely have their likes and dislikes.”
“Not a lie.”
At the overly abstract word “protect,” the black-haired nun asked a question. Protect who from whom?
“I’m.. worried that something like that will happen to Phine again.”
“There are spirits that act, but.. would a newborn do that?”
“Right. Was nice.”
Chartinese revealed her true intentions with a saddened expression, but Nex remained calm. He had gathered enough reasons already.
‘It must be a strong emotion since it wasn’t afraid of even my phoenix.’
The feeling of protecting the Nameless Saint?
He remembered the suspicious question he had asked on the terrace that morning.
That was the most likely possibility. He had shown anxiety, his hands and voice trembling. He couldn’t read his expression because of the helmet, but he was sure.
‘The atmosphere was completely different from when he was cursing.’
But the current Saint is the second generation, Chartinese.
Someone must have lied to his junior. The Vampire Saint’s reputation isn’t very good. He probably believed a fabricated story meant to slander Chart.
“Phine, you can’t trust all men. He’s a wolf!”
“Brother Nex is.”
“A fox, so it’s okay.”
“Stupid sister.”
Nex thought hard as he watched the two women bickering. It was dangerous to speculate further here. He lacked information.
‘Still, it takes guts to impersonate a Saint.’
It didn’t seem like he was flirting with her. If he had approached Phine targeting Chart, the spirit would have attacked him.
It would have thought of him as a rival or enemy.
But it hugged Phine. Had he been involved with the Empire? It’s possible if his parents or relatives worked for the Imperial family.
‘The feeling of wanting to protect could arise from many people. It makes sense considering my spirit wasn’t aggressive towards my junior.’
Besides, Chart is a vampire priest. He couldn’t have not known that.
The people of this world might find it strange or harbor prejudice.
‘The fact that he didn’t react to her eyes or teeth…’
“..I don’t think he’s a bad guy. I’m sure.”
“Even if your mind is sharp, you know it’s no match for them, Nex.”
“Still, is smart.”
A lot of people are terrified of vampires. In fact, when Nex met Chartinese, she was being persecuted.
But his junior wasn’t.
“He didn’t say anything even after seeing our Chart. Trust me. Such people are rare these days, right?”
“That’s true. But I’ll be angry if he touches Phine.”
“Licht, is strange.”
Considering these points, it was because the Black Knight, Licht, didn’t seem like someone who would commit bad deeds.
“Spirits have a way of communicating, Chart. Just like you and me… Ow! My bones! Stop it!”
“This man, really! How can he! Be such a fox..! He says anything in front of Phine!”
“Idiot. Brother Nex.”
The cathedral was filled with Nex Aureus’s screams for about ten minutes. It was the karma he had accumulated so far for being a doting fool.
Watching the absurd scene,
‘If what he said is true.. why did he come to me? Blackie..’
A sudden question made Phine have a flash of thought.
‘Same wolf, so.. protect..?’
Once again, they missed each other without an intersection.
She misunderstood, thinking it followed the wolf’s instinct to move in packs.
—–CROW—–
I woke up in the infirmary and immediately headed to the next classroom. I missed Kainel and Ariel because I skipped lunch.
Spirits are useless, magic doesn’t work, is swordsmanship the only thing I can rely on? Thinking that this world was too harsh on me, I ran between buildings.
Already late, I entered through the back door and sat down.
“Student Licht, you’re late.”
“I’m sorry.”
Other students were diligently attending the lecture. Red and blonde hair, and a glass helmet could be seen in the front row.
Catching my breath, I took out my notebook and started taking notes.
Professor Beatrice, who had given me a warning, continued the class.
“..So, if you concentrate divine power, you can use it as a weapon.”
The Vampire Saint used it by wrapping it around her fist, was this the principle?
“A good way to use it is to coat your equipment to increase its strength or range..”
Professor Beatrice picked up the weapons lined up behind her one by one.
The sword became sharp as if coated with aura, and the spear’s thrusting range increased.
“Or like this, you can use it freely. It might be a bit difficult for you guys, though.”
Putting them down, she once again pulled out a bow and arrow made of light from her hand.
Archer nun? What a strange concept. I wondered if there were any ranged characters in the game.
“It seems flawless, but there’s a weakness in that you have to maintain your composure in any situation to maintain divine power.”
The bob-haired nun smiled with just her eyes. I got goosebumps. No matter how I think about it, she seems like a villain.
“That’s what the realization of hope is. If you assume a desperate situation and believe it, there are cases where divine power doesn’t even gather.”
“…”
The hand that was writing stopped. I remembered what I saw in <Night Heart> a long time ago.
So that’s why the Prayer of Healing didn’t work back then. I felt unpleasant.
‘It was a more desperate situation than I thought. Was this the reason why the Nameless Saint was like that?’
Skill failures are rare in games. Unless you’re caught by a CC or fighting an immune boss.
But there was one case similar to this among the events I saw.
I could see the developer’s passion for trying to maintain some degree of plausibility. Did such a person make <Black Heart>? It’s ridiculous.
“Then, let’s do some practical exercises today as well.”
While I was lost in thought, shocking words came out.
“Let’s each make a weapon. My little lambs.”
This is definitely an F, should I just give up? There was a professor smiling at me. On purpose, right? You must have seen that divine power didn’t gather during the Prayer of Healing.
I was about to burst out of the classroom, but I pulled myself together.
‘..I don’t want to see the Nameless Saint get hurt.’
I remembered when I possessed the game. Let’s aim for retaking the class.
I just need to get a perfect score on the theory-based exam. As long as I don’t get an academic warning, it’s fine.
“Kai, look at this. It’s a divine power staff!”
“Ariel, then is what I made a divine power sword?”
“I guess so? Hehe.”
Seeing Kainel and Ariel gathering divine power and making swords and staffs made me sad. As expected of the protagonists, they are overpowered. Mardol seems to be making a puppy doll. Come to think of it, that’s not a weapon.
Fluffy white divine power like dandelion seeds took the shape of a ball of fur.
“..Blackie.”
The Glass Knight gently stroked the round head of the white puppy. The fur was combed, and it became a square puppy.
“…”
I’m really screwed. Anyone can see that’s a Pomeranian. And it’s not even white, it’s black.
What on earth happened while I was asleep?
—–CROW—–
After finishing the practical exercise of making weapons in Divine Power Studies, I walked down the road.
Only I couldn’t make it again? This is unfair.
“I didn’t know a spirit would like a knight’s helmet.”
“It’s cool. Like a hero to everyone.”
“Ugh. That’s cheesy, Licht.”
Kainel was looking at my helm with strange eyes, recalling yesterday’s incident.
It must have mistaken me for its master after seeing the helmet. I thought as I looked at Mardol’s shining equipment. Except for the armor, it’s similar to mine.
“So.. Mr. Kainel. Did my spirit really do that?”
“It wouldn’t leave Mardol’s arms. Even when it growled, it looked so insignificant that it was cute.”
“Right! Mr. Helmet. It looked more like a puppy than a wolf! It was really fluffy.”
“Was cute.”
I asked other people about what happened in the morning. Except for my spirit being in Mardol’s arms, there was nothing particularly strange, they said. It was a serious situation for me.
“The spirit probably made a mistake.”
I struggled to break the flags.
“So you should have known when to stop, it looked really upset!”
“..Kainel.”
“Alright. Licht. I’ll stop.”
You’re really dead later, you mutt. I was thinking about our Saint. I’ll get you once regarding Ariel too.
I felt dizzy. I’m definitely getting closer to Elder Nex. But even if I met a harem breaker, would it turn out like this?
“Licht.”
As if proving my ominous premonition, a resonant voice came from beside me.
“What is it, Ms. Mardol?”
The Glass Knight stared at my face for a long time. I was afraid that my name and Lupus’s information would appear in the status window.
“..Can’t wake Blackie up?”
“Blackie..?”
“Licht, your spirit.”
When did you give it a name again? It’s not yours. Stop the flags.
“I don’t know.”
I put my hand on my chin. But can this really not be used? It didn’t work until the end when I played the game.
If I could wield a sword while using a spirit, I could target the weakness of at least one Demon Lord.
‘It means it exists, at least.’
A black wolf. Seeing the Pomeranian mixed in, it seems that her real-world experiences have influenced it.
The cute appearance she likes. It seems the saying that spirits are conceived from emotions is true.
Maybe it will wake up if it sees the Nameless Saint?
Looking at it this way, I understand why Nex’s phoenix follows Chartinese so much. Probably because she was the first one to recognize it.
Its lying, annoying mask must have been off.
But why did mine run to Mardol? Just as I was about to point out something strange.
“..Let’s wake it up quickly.”
My concentration was broken.
“You know that spirit users are rare.”
“Strange Licht, is possible.”
“..Huh?”
It seems I need to finish the swordsmanship exchange quickly. Something is seriously wrong.
All the flags are pointing towards the Crown Prince’s route.
I’d be satisfied just properly following the Saintess’s route and happily protecting her from her side. Why is this world like this to me?
“Ms. Mardol.”
“Licht. Why?”
“Swordsmanship exchange, let’s go right now.”
“Really..?”
Frontal assault. After doing this, we won’t be involved anymore, right? To be precise, it’s receiving through magic, but still.
I had to get away from the Crown Prince somehow. I don’t even know where we got entangled anymore. I haven’t touched Lupus’s favorability.
“Wasn’t a lie.”
“I’m not good at it in the first place. Even Mr. Kainel could tell right away.”
“..Is that a compliment? Licht?”
“Mr. Helmet. Kai has a good eye, at least.”
No way. If the mutt next door knows something I don’t, I’ll sell all my items and quit the game.
“I’ll only teach you the first form. Nothing more. Ms. Mardol.”
“That’s enough, Licht.”
I regretted sending him on a journey right away in <Black Heart> and defeating the boss. If it weren’t for the fact that he prevented me from seeing the Saint’s route, I would have memorized it.
Because he’s such a dangerous character. I only saw it once and didn’t even try.
‘The fact that he’s the only son of the Emperor is too big of a deal.’
If I get involved with him wrongly, I’ll really die. In the game, I could at least force quit with a workaround.
It’s impossible here.
“But Licht.”
“Yes, Mr. Kainel?”
“Do you know what a swordsmanship exchange means?”
“I don’t.”
“Mr. Helmet, you really don’t know? Like exchanging letters with each other… Mmm!”
“..Ariel, be quiet.”
He covered the red-haired mage’s mouth. Oh, she’s blushing. An unexpected harvest.
The Crown Prince’s short answer was helpful.
“Hic.”
“Good luck. Licht.”
Looking at Ariel’s shaking eyes, Kainel sighed in relief, showing no particular reaction. Her lips must be touching his palm, but
Is 24 percent still not enough?
Thinking about the love route I have to raise further made me feel hopeless.
“You should do well yourself.”
“What are you talking about?”
I rebuked the clueless mutt, who looked puzzled.
Honestly, I feel like it’ll be ruined if you say that, but seeing you two flirting makes me feel relieved.
“Well, there’s something like that.”
“Pfft. Mr. Helmet. Have a good exchange..”
“Alright, Ms. Ariel.”
At that moment, the hand covering her mouth fell away, and her lips parted.
As if they were flustered by the lingering sensation, the two men and women stared at each other awkwardly. Their eyes were bigger than usual.
“Ariel. I, sorry. Were you surprised?”
“No. Kai. I interrupted too much..”
“Come back safely.. Licht.. Um, should I wash my hands..?”
The pink feeling flowing between the two. This is the original feeling.
“..Idiot, stupid. Sea anemone.”
“What’s wrong again? Ariel.”
“I don’t know. Do what you want! Cai!”
Then why are you walking at the same pace? The distance hasn’t even widened.
It’s a good flag. At least I won’t see Kainel’s harem route. Ariel has a firm grip on him.
I kept laughing inwardly. I shouldn’t make a sound, though.
“Go ahead first. Mr. Helmet.”
“Alright.”
It’s better to trust the red cat than the mutt next door.
If I stay relaxed, I won’t be able to organize my thoughts and will end up in the center of the chaos. I never had a choice from the beginning.
“Then, I’ll see you later at the dormitory, Mr. Kainel.”
I have to try it first and then think.
