8.Picking Medicinal herbs (2)

A short distance across the stream brought us to a small pond. The water of the pond was so transparent that I could even see the bottom of the wate. The surface of the pond was calm and sparkling blue, making the whole scenery calm and beautiful.

“We made it. This is our destination.”

“The pond is so clear and beautiful.”

“Yes, the herbs we’re looking for today grow around these clear ponds.”

“I see. Well, I’ll start looking for herbs over there.”

“Please do. I’m going to look on the other side.”

We split up to look for medicinal herbs. Mikhail, being accustomed to looking for herbs, went behind a tree, found the herb he wanted. He pulled it out, and tossed it into a basket on his back.

Looking at the figure of Mikhail picking and tossing the herbs brought a smile to my face, and I went to a nearby tree and started looking there.

As I carefully searched beside the tree and through the grass, I found a plant with blackish fan-shaped leaves. It looked very similar to the black fan plant I had seen in an illustrated book. I cut the stem with scissors, leaving the roots behind, and ran to Mikhail with great anticipation.

“Mr. Mikhail! Isn’t this a black fan plant?”

“Oh, this is definitely a black fan plant. The leaves are quite large, and it’s of a nice quality. You did a great job finding it.”

For the first time in my life, I found a medicinal herb by myself, and I was overjoyed by Mikhail’s compliment.

“Good! Searching for medicinal herbs is fun, just like treasure hunting!”

“Is that so? We should come back together again.”
