200 years of love ~The noble lady, betrayed by the prince and banished to the past~ - Chapter 7
7.Picking Medicinal herbs (1)
It was late afternoon on the following day and the sky was clear while the sun warmed up the air. It was a perfect day for picking herbs. Both of us were wearing comfortable clothes and robes, and Mikhail was carrying a basket for storing medicinal herbs on his back.
“Are we going into the forest to pick herbs today?”
“Yeah, I’ve cast a spell to keep the beasts away, so it should be safe, but be careful. Some spots are harder to walk on than others”
“I understand. I know what I’m looking for. They are – Raindrop Grass, Black FanGrass, and Dragon Head Grass, right? I’ve memorized their characteristics from the herb book, so I’ll do my best to find them”
“Thank you, I’m counting on you”
Up until now, the only work that I helped Mikhail with was minor indoor work, such as cutting off the leaves of medicinal herbs one by one with scissors so that they would be easier to use, and checking and recording the inventory of medicinal herbs. I became interested in medicinal herbs, and asked him to take me to pick medicinal herbs this time.
Mikhail led the way into the forest, and despite the lingering heat, the cool air blowing in the forest was a nice feeling. The sun shone on the ground through the trees, and I could hear the rustling of the leaves as we walked over them.
After a short walk, we reached a stream that flowed gently downstream and logs wide enough for one person to walk on were kept on the river bank. It seemed that we would have to pass through here to get to our destination.
Mikhail crossed the path first without any trouble, and extended his hand toward me. I took his hand and crossed carefully, step by step.
While holding Mikhail’s big, slightly cold hand, I felt embarrassed for some reason, and heat appeared on my face.
‘Mikhail is just holding my hand to keep me from falling off the log! Don’t be embarrassed. We have to cross quickly!’
For some reason my heart was beating fast and I was impatient to get to the other side so I hurried my steps, but I lost my footing on the last step.
When I thought I was about to hit the ground, I shut my eyes but I did not feel the water after falling. Feeling something was wrong, I opened my eyes and found myself in Mikhail’s arms.
“Oh, I’m sorry! Thank you very much!”
“No problem! I’m glad you didn’t fall into the river. Come on, our destination is just around the corner. Let’s go!”
Mikhail gently lowered me to the ground.
Lunaria, who had been too embarrassed and unable to raise her red face to face Mikhail, didn’t notice that Mikhail’s ears were also flushed red as he walked calmly ahead of her.
