200 years of love ~The noble lady, betrayed by the prince and banished to the past~ - Chapter 12
12.Defensive Magic
There was one more day left till the promised third month. Lunaria knocked on the door of Mikhail’s personal office.
For the past few weeks, Mikhail had been confined to his office in order to develop defensive magic against the summoning spell that would be cast on Lunaria. She had just brought him a cup of freshly brewed herbal tea to help him with his experiments in his office today.
“Mikhail, I made you some tea. Would you like to take a break?”
“Oh, thank you. I’ll have some.”
She placed the tea tray on the table and sat down on the bed.
“I’m almost done with the defensive magic, so I’ll cast it on you when it’s done.”
“Oh my! I’m glad you finished it in time!”
“Yeah, but I can’t shake my fears about what would happen if it failed. Sigh. I wish I could just transport two hundred years from now with you.”
Lunaria saw that Mikhail was constantly researching without even sleeping. The dark circles beneath Mikhail’s eyes started to become worse than before.
“I don’t know the details, but I heard that time transfer magic can only send you to the past, not to the future. The only exception to this is that it is possible to summon back a person who has been transferred to the past.”
While she also thought about how she could return to her world with Mikhail, it was just a dream that would never come true.
“I see… Then, I guess we’ll have to hope for defensive magic to work. The other side won’t be expecting it, but I’m sure they’ll try to outsmart it.”
“I’m sure it’ll be fine. I believe in your ability, Mikhail, I also have this amulet with me.”
She took a bookmark out of her pocket. The bookmark was made of white pressed flowers.
“This is the moonflower?”
“Yes, I pressed the moonflower that you gave me. There is a legend that the moonflower can make wishes come true, right? And my wish is to be with you.”
Mikhail gently brought Lunaria’s head to his chest.
“And I want to be the one who will make your wish come true.”
Lunaria, surrounded by Mikhail’s warmth, hoped that this peaceful time would last forever.
